Re: Darlo v York
I think I'm one of those stay away fans referred to earlier, (due to distance and commitments rather than choice) so today was only the second game I've seen this season. But I saw quite a few matches last season and on today's performance I'd definitely return for more; the team is light years ahea...

Whatever happened to Gary Brown? Couldn't he come back for us again? Where is he?

I'm sure I have most of the 1971/2 and following season gathering dust in my loft. Could be a good way for them to go.

Was it just me but did anyone else think our new manager (in his interview) bore a passing resemblance to MG?

I think if the deadwood had been in the south she would have made the cuts there. If you were around at the time it was obvious that things had to change, we were becoming a banana republic.
Agree it or not, UK got its pride back and we had a real leader in charge.

Re: Wright has left the building
It's always sad when anyone loses their job and it would be churlish if you couldn't feel for him. Yet in some ways it must also feel like a release for him, as it wasn't getting any better and he'd had enough time to make a good go of it. The management were patient. So like others have said, he le...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
For me darlington played very well against a top team and a poor referee who to all intents an purposes may as well had a yellow shirt on. I thought the linesman was out of order. Two minutes in to the game he responded to a mild rebuke from someone behind me by telling them to F off. I know these ...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
Well now that I've read these pages I see at last why our manager took off the two players who seemed most of a threat to Chorley. Not sure where the 5 minutes of injury time came from, but our fault for not seeing the game out. Kneeshaw seemed to be making a right nuisance of himself to the other t...

Agree we need Thommo up at the front end. Now all we need is Brown at the back end again. He should never have left.

Things looking bleak
Reading through the various topics on Uncovered, a number of writers have mentioned that things could be looking "bleak". So in the spirit of the season and to get your vocal chords into practice for your carol services, I've ad-libbed some of the words to "In the Bleak Mid-winter", to perhaps sum u...

The last thing a football manager usually needs is a vote of confidence from his board.
We know where that often leads.

There we go, deleted and banned all those accounts. They were all registered in 2015, by the way - before we really started ramping up the efforts to stop them signing up. Just sat there. I've half a mind to purge old accounts if I can find something in the admin panel to do that, actually... Looks...

Re: Am I the only one - balanced view
You're right. For me the lowest point was in the 1972 season (I think) when Mansfield ran riot and put seven past us at Feethams. Peter Graham had to comfort our (young local) keeper who was almost in tears at the end.
We were in a very bad run of form.

Yep. That gives us 2 or 3 seconds respite and then the ball comes straight back at us.Darlo_Pete wrote:I think the lack of creativity from the midfield is our main problem. Therefore the defence is trying to bypass them with longer balls up front.

Re: Democracy under threat.
If the remain vote had won, how do you think they would react if people who wanted brexit now tried to force another vote? They rightly would be up in arms, saying there had been a democratic vote and the voters had wanted to remain. You can't have the best of 3 votes in British politics. The majori...

Why do other teams look fitter and quicker than us something must be wrong in training as they seem to play with lead boots on as for the tactics say no more Agree. Compared to Bradford we didn't seem to play with any urgency yesterday. Why was it that every time we got a corner we seemed to take h...

Re: Darlington v Bradford (Park Avenue)
I agree with what's been said. Haven't been able to get to a match for a while and wished I hadn't gone today. Bradford were the best team, far more committed and too fleet of foot for Darlington, whose tactics were to be boot it or head it the right way and hope for the best. Inevitably the ball ca...

So how long do e expect wright to stay? We havent sacked a manager since steve staunton - at what point does that change? Singh sacked Mark Cooper didn't he? Either way, it was only two weeks ago we were stuffing Brackley, so I think talk of sacking Wright is premature for now (and that's coming fr...

Re: Martin Gray sacked by York
Gray must be distraught with this, given a massive budget and the thought of getting York promoted and the move to a brand new stadium was a massive incentive to leave us for them.Just wonder if he has any regrets looking back on the success he had with us and possibly thinking he should have shown...

It was great to see Amar again, who looked as if he could step back in to the side with ease, and the way he made one of the goals was great to see. You could tell that he enjoyed being back with us again. Even the weather was kind; the torrential rain eased off and it got quite bright at one point....

I thought the TV pundits were unreasonably unfair on Pickford last night (punching outwards not sideways, using the wrong hand to try and stop the Belgian goal). I'd like to remind them that he didn't stagger backwards while the ball sailed over his head, nor did he fumble the ball and crawl after i...

Re: The world cup
I'm really enjoying the world cup; last night's match between Argentina and Croatia was a surprise result. I normally dislike the closed season as I'm not interested in cricket or tennis so having summer fotball to watch once every 4 years seems to make the domestic season come round sooner. There's...

My favourite player since our early days at Bishop. Always gave his all and a joy to watch.
