Re: Simply not good enough

I think the only way round this is either we as owners raise a bit of cash , (not sure of numbers let’s say £10000) or we get someone in from a lower league that we can afford. Or we wait till January when we get Gary Martin and reassess from there. I love our fans passion, and have no doubt we'd g...

Re: Leamington (A)

It happens. It's incredibly frustrating and it still leaves us in the mire. Im sure when one of the deals comes off Armstrong will get the right man in. But it's not just us, I see Ben Jackson (on loan with us last season) has been recalled from his season long loan at Stockport by Huddersfield as t...

Re: Leamington (A)

It's a shame because looking at the squad after O'Neill came in, in the summer it looks a good well balanced squad to me: GK: Elliott, Hall, Connell RB: Trotman, Atkinson , Holiday, Hedley LB: Liddle, Watson CB: Galbraith, Laing, Heaton , Atkinson , Waston, Storey CM: Hatfield, Wheatley, Holness, Ba...

Re: Leamington (A)

We need a dominant CB. Laing isn't the type of player we need. I know we were after Buddle in the summer. More the kind of player we need, big 6'3+ lad who can get his head on things. Need someone with a loud voice too. Lead that back line a bit more too often were too quiet. A dominant CB alongside...

Re: Leamington (A)

Really disappointing performance by the sound of it. Sounds like we're being bullied. 3 players away from being able to compete at the top end of this league. Completely support Armstrong and can see what he's trying to build, but god it's been frustrating since we lost O'Neill. Wouldn't mind seeing...

Re: Leamington (A)

Tough game tonight, long way to go on a Tuesday night for a part time team. The stats don't scream of a great match incoming either, pitting the team with the 4th worst home record in the league against the team with the 3 worst away record. Their home record reads: W D L F A 3 2 3 10 10 And our awa...

Re: Darlington V Telford

Not sure of the exact application of the rule at our level, but I know in the Premier League + the Football League there is a cut off 19 league games after which you must accumulate 10 yellow cards before suspension. Again not sure what the application is whether that relates to the actual games pl...

Re: Darlington V Telford

Really disappointing capitulation second half when we got ourselves in such a good position. Not good enough under any circumstances when we've got ourselves into a good position and points are precious. Frustrating at the minute. In some ways so much better than last season. We have a clear game pl...

Re: Darlington v Gainsborough Trinity FA Trophy

Not particularly against giving Donawa an opportunity as he has done well when he's come on, but tbh it screams to me of square pegs in round holes and I don't see it producing much different results as to whether Thompson or Campbell was at the head of our attack. Still we will miss that larger pre...

Re: Solihull Moors Away - FA Trophy 1st Rnd

Will be interesting to see how seriously Solihull take the competition, as people said in the Gainsborough match thread, no one really cares about the trophy until you get to the semi-finals and the potential for a Wembley appearance looms into sight. Solihull are making some big investments to try ...

but also that chance in the second half just took an awkward bounce off the surface and ended up away from his reach (legally...ie with his foot). If the ball had landed at his feet and he was clean through, his arse would have fallen out and he would have shanked it wide or straight at the keeper....

Talking of strikers, what's Richard Brodie up to these days?

Dial B for Brodie.
Michael Bridges was there last night, my cousins ex's dog swears he saw him a training last week while out on walkies and that he's about to sign.

Dial B for Bridges.

Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread

Across two games we gave them a really tough fight. Had we had a CF waiting in the box for those opportunities we created last night, who knows, the outcome might have been different. Regardless of the result really proud of these players, 5 FA Cup games this season and each one of them a brilliant ...

Re: Will Darlo go for the hybrid model?

Tough to really assess a 'hybrid system' because it can mean so many different things. From adding an extra day time training session into the mix - to - a split of some part time and full time players. And as such there would be a huge cost differential. Adding an additional training session probab...

That stat is for shots on target. As other have said we more than matched them. Just a striker away from taking advantage. Lots to be proud of.

Re: Brackley V Darlington

In summary the 3-5-2 just didn't work. Attacking, Hatfield and Wheatley were too deep, basically was just a straight line of those two and the 3 CBs. They were happy to stand off. Then the ball was fired into the forwards, they were sorrounded on their first touch. Rivers tried to get at his man. Wa...

Re: Brackley V Darlington

At least we sold out prior to this! Won the second half. Just curious-how did Lambert do and what was different after half time? I always thought we'd struggle today after last week's monumental effort and looking ahead to being available for Wednesday. Onwards and upwards. Brackley took their foot...

Re: Second Round Draw

As you say, 3rd round, potentially so close. A winnable tie at home could genuinely take us on a tie that would bring development funds and financial stability for years to come. Should we not get a winnable home tie, I'd agree I'd rather go to the other end of the spectrum. Sunderland or Ipswich aw...

Re: Walsall V Darlington FA Cup First Round Proper

Great to have Connell in the fold for the game. Definitely a confidence booster after losing O'Neill. Think the players have got it right in their interviews. Nothing to fear, go down there stay in the game, if its 0-0 after 25 or 30 mins their fans and players will start getting more and more tense...

Most people are having a right twist on at South Shields for wanting a fee for a player who is contracted to them and belongs to them now feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but when Phil Turnbull fell out of favour with Tommy wright I don't remember us letting him sign up for the tynesiders free ...

Sheilds dont owe us anything. They've bought our players in the past and they would only have been sold if they offered an amount that matched our valuation of the player. I expect nothing else from them. Everyone knows their financial situation. They dont need the cash. The owner is willing to fund...

Re: Liam Connell - Boost the Budget

If we do, it sadly sets a precedent for other teams to be greedy This, I'm afraid. Certainly want Connell to stay but we shouldn't be looking to be held to ransom for a player with 7 months left on his contract. Unfortunately, just sets a precedent for other clubs to inflate prices because the fans...

Proof that for the fans atleast, the tv games are as much a curse as an excitement. TV games chosen, Carlisle have to go to south london on a friday night and Pompey have to go to harrogate on a monday night. Ridiculous trips for any of their fans wanting to attend.

Are we still entertaining the notion that Blackwell Meadows isn't absolutely rubbish for anything more than our standard league crowd? A big away crowd is always a cracking atmosphere, especially when the home crowd aren't arsed and are easily drowned out. We're not capable of a big home crowd. Our...

Leyton Orient v Maldon & Tiptree
