I'm the other one who thought he had a good game at Wembley; if only that header had gone in he would have been the hero.
Hope he thrives on the competition for places as fit and on form he's a handful and should do well at this level.

Yes, I feel in a win-win situation, to use marketing speak.
My heart is really with Darlo but I also admire how Gateshead have come from nowhere, so it is a tricky one. I suspect my Darlo son and mates will sway me in the end!

It is the best possible tie as both games will be like finals and whoever goes through the North-East will be represented and, I hope, supported by all at Wembley!

I have a problem in that i'm from Whickham (1 mile from Gateshead) and my first taste of 'proper' football was when a neighbour took his grandson and me to Redheugh Park to see the Heed play - I loved it! I also played many times for Whickham Juniors against Redheugh Boys' Club on the pitches next t...

Re: John Campbell
Campbell was excellent but equally pleasing was Dan Burn at the other end. Credit to Lidds and co, Burn is a proper centre half and a proper footballer, no hoof ball, just win it and play it simple. I look forward to seeing him up against a decent striker but on today's performances both Campbell an...

As a former PR who saw the light, they are a waste of over-paid space. Ignore Martin nobody, go to a youth game and I am sure Lidds or Maddo would be more than happy to talk to you. Good journalism is about ignoring the easy route and making your own, reliable contacts, cutting out the company spoke...

I'm sure if you asked cooper to name his 3 most important players SR would be in the top 3. My boss shouts at me but when the s hits the f he knows who he can rely on. Sam is no rookie, he knows how good he is and so does the boss, the banter is just part of the heat of the battle. Relax and enjoy h...

Re: These Poppies aren't too Rosy
My point is it is not for people at the club to decide the pitch will be playable. Part of it is frozen, therefore there must be an element of doubt, so call in a local ref to give his opinion and let the fans know the situation so they can make up their own minds whether to risk it or not. It's jus...

Re: These Poppies aren't too Rosy
My point exactly. There were people at the club so why was nothing done about notifying people that the pitch was frozen and the match may be in doubt, and why was an early inspection not arranged?
It's not rocket science, just a lack of common sense and respect for fans - again.

Another embarrassing day as a Darlo fan. Obvious with a white-out at 8am and still freezing at 10am there was a problem, so the least the travelling fans deserved was a warning. I have travelled to away games to have them called off and it is infuriating, so the Kettering fans have my sympathy. It s...

On a week off recently I had sky sports news on during the day, when they had a man (a Scotsman) and an attracitve bonde lady (don't know name) and they took the mickey out of each other all the way, and he probably took more stick than she did. It was highly entertaining for someone who has been in...

Absolutely serious, told by a member of staff while at the ground on Wednesday.
As for the damage, not sure, but bad enough for us to have to walk outside to the shop from main reception as the internal link entrance was closed off.

Re: Gateshead pitch inspection
The early announcement of an inspection says a lot about what they think the chances are of the game going ahead.
Also, Sunday's game looks doomed with the pitch frozen and burst pipes in the south stand.
Never mind, sunshine here I come

After watching Barcelona destroy Real Madrid tonight and comparing that with the pathetic World Cup matches, not least the 'total football' Dutch as they set out to kick Spain off the pitch in the farce of a final, it wouldn't bother me if we blanked the World Cup altogether. How you doing Pete, see...

Can't believe it is off already. 24 hours is a long time in football and we can't afford a fixture backlog, as well as wanting to get back in action quickly and putting Sat's pathetic effort behind us. It is 85 degrees in my lounge and Barca seem to be doing OK despite the weather! At this rate we w...

Re: Orange Balls!
Shame it didn't - the game was a farce on an icy pitch which negated our skillful players and was ideal for them.
Can't fault the efforts of those who cleared the pitch but next time don't bother.
Footy on Ice will never be a TV hit! Best played on grass.

I have noticed how he commands not only his area but also the last third of the pitch, clearing through balls, taking free kicks and generally giving his back four less territory to cover and worry about. His contribution to our progress is not to be underestimated, in my opinion of course.

I think he is becoming a bit of a forgotten hero, with everyone talking, quite rightly, about the influence of MBW, Brough etc. His save from Akinwa(?) yesterday was top drawer and I think he gives the lads in front of him so much confidence as he exudes an air of being in total control. Many of his...
