Re: Enjoyable Read

The article was very interesting, but made me realise there is now a generation of supporters already who never experienced Feethams and probably have little idea of what it means to those who went there. Indeed there will be a growing number of fans who never got to The Arena either. Its sad that ...

Re: New signing

The discussion about Nicky Hunt reminds me of Mick Tate. He joined Darlo in 1990 after we'd secured promotion back to the Football League from the Conference. Tate was 34 and had played nearly 550 matches in the FL, the vast majority in the 2nd tier. He then was a massive influence in getting us pr...

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

Still plenty of uncertainty according to the Price of Football podcast yesterday. They reckon the playoffs will be null and void if the NL cannot give the EFL certainties over the start of the 20/21 season. Basically said the EFL would refuse to accept the play off winner into their membership. Sen...

Re: Potential new signings

Mitchell Curry was on-loan at Inverness CT earlier this season and played 15 games and scored 2 goals before being recalled by Boro. He then went on loan to Gateshead and played 4 matches (scoring once) before Covid struck. I wonder if he is expected to play in the play-offs with Gateshead. He is Ne...

Re: 19/20 Season Ticket Refunds

Just a thought would it cost the club very much to let the season ticket holders have a discounted shirt for next season - don't slate me - I said it's just a thought and I am referring to the fans who lost the four home games.. I'm no accountant, but I suspect offering a shirt discount would prese...

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

A further constraint I've just picked-up from Twitter is that the play-offs have to take place in both NLN and NLS. So if either NLN or NLS can't raise a minimum of 4 participating teams, then there will be no play-offs in both NLN and NLS.

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

Just looking at the current resolution sent to NL clubs as reported in a Non-League Paper article. If passed (which it probably will, otherwise the default is anulment ie no promotion to EFL), there will be play-offs in NLN and NLS "if legally possible". There would be no compulsion for qualifying c...

Re: Playoffs

I see York have just put in a counter suggestion (unsurprisingly) that those teams finishing 2nd in both NLN and NLS get promoted automatically, and the original intended 4 teams are relegated from the NL. Have to say I think they have a decent case. Is it the case again that the NL have more votes...

Re: Thommo

One thing I’ve never understood with certain Spenny fans is why they’re so keen to deny they’re bankrolled. I don’t get it. It’s actually more effective to just admit it, as it shuts down that line of attack much quicker. “We’re bankrolled, so what?” There’s not actually any issue with them living ...

Tommy Wright back at Corby Town

I don't think it's been mentioned on here before, but Tommy Wright is back as manager at one of his old clubs, Corby Town. I thought he last had a coaching role at Mansfield. Maybe he felt that the draught of cut-backs that will probably sweep through a lot of clubs at that level

Re: Potential new signings

I think I've seen 3 retained lists so far, Kidderminster, Carlisle and now Hartlepool. The thing they've had in common is that each has released upwards of 8 players. There's going to be a huge number of players of EFL2, NL and NLN/S standard looking for clubs. No doubt the majority of those release...

Pretty sure the consensus amongst chairmen is that football below the Premier League cannot survive unless it is playing in front of crowds. Maybe televising lower levels is a solution, but does that not compromise what lower level football is about, it's affordable live football not a TV show. It’...

I wonder how the takeover of our Geordie friends up the road affects our future fan base. A lot of football fans in Darlington and south Durham follow newcastle and they haven’t won a thing in years. If they start winning trophies it’s going to be even harder to attract young fans. When I started r...

If the club are proactive they should put all PAYE staff as furloughed staff as at least 80% of PAYE costs will be covered. I don’t think they will be able to apply for CBIL due to the previous accounts and the fact the banks are looking for security, as we don’t have any. Most players finish up be...
