Re: Portsmouth FC - Fan Owned and Billionaire Wanting to Inv

I can't see why a private cash-rich investor would want to get involved with us, other than altruism, vanity or being a lottery-winning fan. With someone like Portsmouth you've at least got good local wealth demographics and chance of getting back to Championship / Prem level where there's TV money....

Sounds like a classic smash n grab... nicked 7 goals and hopefully with a backs-to-the-wall performance last 20 mins we can sneak this one.

Top bit of analysis, thank you. Came on here looking for something exactly like this. Hadn't really clocked the form of those teams moving into the playoff places below us. Sadly agree with you on Blyth being in pole position to take the title at this stage, although my feeling is they won't be as d...

Re: Salford v Darlo match thread

Great win and day out yesterday. Not sure it was fully deserved after a ropey first half but all the sweeter for that and spirit to turn things around was impressive. Thought Jameson's save at 2-0 from the one-on-one was fantastic, highlights don't do it as much justice as the camera is looking dead...

Five strikers feels like a bit of a luxury but would love The HITMAN to stay, offers something different and is the type of guy who clearly brings it all to the party in big games when it counts.

Reckon Grantham looks like a big away day out. 90 mins from Darlo on the East Coast train line and less than an hour on same line heading north for the poncey metropolitan London-based types like me.

I've not visited Darlington for 2.5 years now, but will be back in 3 weeks for a visit. There's a lot of things I can't wait to show my son, who's never even been to England. The Town Clock. My old school in Hurworth. Broken Scar. The ground where his football team plays......... Great post  ...

Re: BACK FROM SALFORD MATCH ~ ABSOLUTE LOSS OF DISCIPLINE

One thing that I'd say about the tactics is that I thought Gray had made the correct decision to switch it by bringing Mitchell on for Scott just after halftime and we were looking better in the 10 minutes after that. We were even on a promising break when the ref pulled up for whatever White said. ...

Might not be too wildly optimistic. Encouraging that Curzon have managed the step-up and are third, albeit on more games played.

Yep - good post TangerineDream. Salford are a pretty interesting club with the new ownership there. Good to get a detailed view from a genuine fan. Seems strange about the fans that have left the club, I can understand the concerns but surely they could have waited to see how things play out.

It may or may not have been the FA. And the decision may or may not have been taken by an appalling racist or misogynist, which the FA is known to harbour at senior levels http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/news/10946451/David-Elleray-should-face-FA-action-for-racist-remarks-to-another-offici...

Re: Best Goal ?

For sheer quality, Pawel Abbott against Grimsby. He was through one on one at the corner of the 18 yard box with a clear run at the keeper. Instead of simply taking a couple of touches and slotting home he stopped and chipped it audaciously into the only square foot of the goal where the goalkeeper...

Very positive. As above, I'd hope that the planners have already been on the ball in liaising with us and the rugby club on the application so that it's more of a formality than a drawn out campaign.

Tragedy for the football league if such a trophy-laiden club were to bow out. What a crazy ride the last 100 years have been for the 3-time League 2 January Manager Of The Month winners - http://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/news/ ... 25418.aspx

Both good shouts. I'd maybe favour Bayern for this year though - great squad of German world cup winners and I think they'd be smarter in handling the later stages after Real humped them in the semis last year.

Great result, delighted when I saw it. I'd totally drop Rooney. He's spent the last decade since Euro 04 humping goals past minor nations in qualifying before rocking up at tournaments a sullen, underperforming mess who weighs the team down. Give a chance to people who've shown potential to perform like Lallana, rather than someone who h...
