Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlington.
No I agree with Darlo Pete ... this is a big game ... but not as big as our 4th game which will be a really big game ... and it won't be as big as or 5th game which will be a really really big game ... but not as big as our 6th game which will be a massive game. Of course we don't want to get too ca...

Re: REDUCTION IN GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND DARLINGTON CUT BACKS
You might not agree with what Darlington BC do and you might not like the personalities but the funding formula is wrong and needs looking at. Sign the petition and get all your friends to sign it ... might not do any good but you never know

Re: REDUCTION IN GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND DARLINGTON CUT BACKS
If 10,000 sign up then the Government needs to respond. If 100,000 sign up then it gets debated. The issue is that the funding to local government is being cut and it is being cut most in Labour councils. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/most-deprived-english-councils-suffer-biggest-cut...

Re: Feethams History
Decided to Google "Darlington FC History" and came across this site: http://www.mehstg.com/darlingt.htm ... which has the hilarious statement in it: The club’s nickname “the Quakers” comes from the proximity to the nearby railway line (which made them the first in history with their own station when...

Avast is definitely a really good option. I moved off AVG because the new version was crippling my PC with constant updates. Not had any problems with Avast which was recommended by trustworthy IT tech at work. As regards running 2 AV products at once. I would say that is totally unnecessary and may...

Re: 25 Man Squad?
Is there a restriction on the cumulative height of our starting XI? No but there is a minimum cumulative weight for the starting 11 who must weigh in at 135 stone. This has proved a problem in the past for teams who could not muster a full team, but is generally resolved by putting a very fat man i...

Why does neveryone keep talking like we have any rights on this stadium or its contents? Lets get first dibs on the seats etc for our new ground lol. S&S own the ground and all of the fixtures and fittings. Like everything else they will probably want money to part with them. Of course the council c...

Re: What will kill this club in the end ...
If we force 1883's current board to throw in the towel, who steps up next and why would we expect them to be faultless? With each day in the role they must be learning more about what it takes to run this club. Although this is the "interim" board, we need to keep them in place until a permanent bo...

What will kill this club in the end ...
... is the vitriolic hatred expressed by so many to those who take the effort to put their necks on the line. Anyone who puts themselves in a position of responsibility (Tony Taylor, Hodgie1, the 1883 board, etc.) gets torn to pieces and personally abused. Who would want that level of hatred and abu...

Is there a running total somewhere?
I've had a look around all of the sites (1883, savedarlo, uncovered) but can't see a running total of how much is invested. Echo said today that £10k has been invested in 2 days. How close are we to the first £70K? What has already been counted / added in? How much more is needed? Putting a target u...

Re: Have you invested your Crowdcube money into the CIC
What the fuck do we need 200k for just in the month of June? Yeah we'll need to pay the last payments to players/staff under TUPE, but process of elimination tells me that shouldn't be more than 40k. We obviously (may) need to do work to Dean Street and may decide to pay the 25k up front. We'll hav...

Re: Explanation of how we fund the club
I think we need to wait and see what the minimum investment will be in the CIC to get a voting right, if it is as little as £1 then clearly anyone investing in one of the supporter groups can increase their voting rights by also investing a small amount in the CIC. I'm not sure that the Trust should...

Re: Fans urged to dig deep and to reinvest.
Thanks for these replies Andrew. Exactly what was needed and very helpful. I think I will now wait for the CIC to be set up. I wonder if it would be useful to have a way of people "pledging" to the CIC so that there is a (non-binding) indication of how much funding this will attract?

What else would you like to see on the BuyDarlo.org site? Further clarity on anything? I think we should get a running total on there if we can. Hi Tori ... Re: Explanation of how we fund the club
Other than changing how it is structured or a mass campaign in explaining it fully, I don't know where we go. The uncertainty around league etc is not helping, I am guessing at the moment we are all pausing until that decision. Maybe nobody is explaining it because nobody understands it ... :? The ...

Re: Explanation of how we fund the club
Thanks jacka1960, it's nice to get some sort of additional information, but my understanding gap lies in that bit around the CIC buying shares. By investing in the CIC will I actually benefit the football club as much as by investing in 1883 through one of the supporter groups? Or will CIC money pot...

Think we need to know what level we'll be playing at first though mate? That could make a massive difference. How does what level we're playing at affect the way the funding works? It might affect how many will invest, but now how funding works. Totally agree with MKDarlo that an explanation would ...

Re: Uncovered and 1883
Might be a question for 1883 but ... if it is one person / one vote, does that mean that each of the supporter groups get one vote each? Scott has laid out the process for emailing investors in DUFF to decide how the DUFF vote will be used, but that is a single vote isn't it? So if I want to have th...

Re: Darlington CIC sporting Hub.
I think we have to regard the CIC sporting hub as a "rented ground". It doesn't matter what else is there, or what funds they bring in ... we will presumably "rent" the football pitch that is built and any matchday income is ours to keep. So it doesn't matter how many people use the cricket or rugby...

Re: Takeover 'On Track'
Can't disagree that the Arena will never be "fit for purpose" for DFC as it is way too big, but we will never have the capital to move away, so we probably need to look at getting investment to use that space differently, e.g. rip out the seats at the top of each stand and replace them with rooms th...

Re: Takeover 'On Track'
I might be wrong but I think the 1883 business model absolutely relies on us staying in the Arena and making money from using it for other purposes than football. The club needs to find multiple ways of earning revenue from the facilities it brings. Any move away from the Arena would need to be in p...

Are we going to be a community run club or not? If we set some rules on how it works to protect the club's status as a community-run club (e.g. no single person can own more than x% of the shares) then we can't keep changing the rules every time someone with a wad of cash comes along. This could ver...
