Re: Nuneaton Match Thread

We really need to stop shipping sloppy goals, 20 conceded in the last 10 games means we have to score 3 to win a game. Maybe we need to go 4-5-1 to sort this out and start building from there. There is clearly no confidence in the team anymore, with very little creativity on show today. Some players...

Agree that Marrs was MOTM thought he had a great game. Must be about time Novakowski got a chance to start some games, the midfield always seems to improve when he comes on and his height is a big bonus at set pieces

Re: Relegated from Conf National

It'll be good to go back to Chorley. Who remembers those Bolton fans turning up looking to cause trouble, when we player there last time in our Conference days? Wasnt it was there where the police had to come up with makeshift segregation during the match by parking a police car across the 'terrace'

Re: The Rushall pitch

The whole set up at Rushall was a flashback to the Northern League days, it was hard to believe that it met the grading standards. Just goes to show that it really is a tick box exercise to meet the requirements rather than upgrading the ground to provide a good environment to play in.

I noticed David Mitchell was there in a tracksuit on Sunday. He could be a possibility at Right Back on Thursday / Saturday if needed. Should be a lot stronger after being a regular for Bishops all season

Still can't believe the ref didn't make them change into our away kit, never seen such a bad shirt clash, especially from the back where the shirts were identical.

Re: FA Trophy - Mossley Match thread.

Still the second highest attendance of the round by the looks. Played well in bits, but were exposed at the back on a few occasions, Jameson one really good stop. Bright spots were Novakowski, Callaghan and Youhill who played well. Hymer did OK, didn't get a great deal of service but his movement wa...

Re: Match thread

Didn't look like a pen, and in the build up the ref and linesmen missed a push and foul on white before his tackle. White getting himself sent off after the whistle isn't very bright though, guess he'll get 3 games, just hope Hunter is back before his ban starts. 0-0 would have been a fair result, a...

Re: Ramsbottom v Darlo match thread

Very good performance overall, cartman was outstanding and linked up with Youhill really well. Youhills goal was a tremendous finish, and cartmans was well worked. Ramsbottom were a lot poorer team than when they played at Heritage Park though, but we took full advantage. Crowd was interesting must ...

Not good enough Gray refusing to speak to the Echo for the second game running. Surely the fans have a right to understand his thoughts when we lose not just when we win, poor judgement on his part

Re: Darlo v Hyde Match Thread

What another truly dreadful defensive display. Hunter and Burgess just don't seem to be able to play as a pair, Burgess was awful yet again, but Hunter was all over the place too in the first half especially. Surely the obvious thing is to drop burgess and use last seasons successful pairing. Mitche...

Re: Darlo v Hyde United Match Thread FA Cup

That was easily the worst team performance since away at Kendal last year. So many of the players played way below their best, Burgess especially having an absolute mare. On the plus side Hyde were a very average team so next week if we play anywhere near our best we should get a result.

Re: Darlo v Blyth Match Thread

I don't think it's any co-incidence that Thommo had his best game for ages playing on the right or the free role in the middle.

I wonder if that was in MG's thinking when he brought Bell in, tough on Mitchell though.

Re: Darlo Kids V New Mills Match Thread

Ryu Williams seemed to have genuine pace which is very promising for the future. I was also impressed by Jose Wilson in midfield who had loads of energy and matched New Mills players significantly older and more experienced than him. Mitchell and Pennal must be pushing for the bench new season too.

Re: Today's game

Agree that Hatch changed the game when he came on, but Cartman put in a real shift for the team in the second half tracking back and helping midfield and defence. Still not sure how we didn't get a pen in the first half when Cartman was brought down but we rode our luck at times too so can't complai...

Re: Darlo v Droylsden Match thread

Scott had a terrific first half but took a slight knock and was subbed with Monday in mind I guess. That disrupted the team moving Galbraith into the middle followed by Hunter going off forcing Mitchell into the defence. Because of this I think it was understandable how why had a quieter second half...

Re: Darlo v Northwich Match Thread

Same old story...big team, very well organised, play a tight defensive line equals defeat. We had absolutely no idea how to break them down, could still be playing now. Looks like settling for play off when we'll probably come up against Northwich or Spennymoor and to be honest I can see a repeat of...

Totally agree with others, Hatch totally commanded the defence when he came on, won everything. Must think about starting with him next game, especially if White is out of favour. Portas really stood out in the midfield and Watson was very good again.

I hope the players aren't falling out like some of us. A bit of pressure and it's starting to show. And to anyone at the game - what went so desperately wrong for us to go 3 down ? For the first goal we had a corner and they broke quickly down the slope and we didn't have enough cover, second goal ...

Re: Kendal Match Thread

Very disappointing. Going 3-0 down so quickly just blew any game plan we had out of the water. I still can't understand why we go to hoofball straight away as soon as we start chasing a game, if there was 10 mins to go I could understand it but with 60 mins it seems stupid. God knows how brown will ...

Re: Darlo v Radcliffe Borough Match Thread

Not the greatest game for us, 2 really poor goals to concede, but there again scored 2 scruffy goals too. Strange formation when Mitchell went off, with Dowson, Armstrong, Armar and Tommo all in a line up front with no width so lots of long balls, but unlucky when Tommo hit post in the last minute. ...

Not sure I can remember a game with more clear cut missed chances, just couldn't score. Portas was outstanding again I thought but Mitchell wasn't on his wavelength today so we struggled with the short passing through the midfield. Watson has a good game too, overlapped well.

Another disappointing performance all round. Aside from Jamesons nightmare moment dropping the ball in his own net, we were totally lacklustre. Their number 10 tried to put Brownie into the hoardings with a tackle and ended up sliding through and clattering the ball boy. Totally unnecessary challenge as the ball was going out already.
