Re: Darlington FC V South Shields Match Thread

When you have your 2 centre backs playing so far apart for long periods of the game, you're going to have problems against any side.

Whether that's tactics or (more likely) players switching off, i'm not sure..

Re: Best Striker For Darlington

Cusack came to us in 1992 - i thought he looked a class apart at times, but never really got going with Darlo.

Re: Best Striker For Darlington

Following Darlo since the late 70s, i cant split Currie, Gabbas or Blake.

All 3 were a class apart, lethal in front of goal and got me on the edge of my seat

Re: Best Quakers performance ever

That Bournemouth game went on forever maybe 8 minutes added on? We were travelling home from holiday and the lads were nippers. Roasting hot day open terrace, expensive drinks, loads of darlo, trouble in the corner. A win under our belts, thought we were big time but it wasn't to last! haha yes, i ...

Re: Best Quakers performance ever

Probably one that wont spring to mind for many, but for me - the opening day of the 1991/2 season at Bournemouth. 2 consecutive promotions from us and playing with largely the same side went up against a Bournemouth team that had invested heavily and had the likes of Quinn, O'Driscoll, Ekoku etc.. i...

Re: Worst weather you've ever seen Darlo play in?

I (half) remember a game away to Scarborough. Early – Mid 90’s, we lost 3-0 (maybe 4) and had one, possible two players sent off, one I think was Gregan. Would have been drier to have jumped into the sea. Anyone remember and tell me the score and if im making up the red cards. I remember this one -...

Re: 250 tickets for Salford game

There'll be more than 250 Darlo there on the day, i know some who live in the area and will be getting this week and as mentioned, some have already got some on the way to Marine.

Barmy decision to make it all ticket and not segregated.

If we think we can have a club that is 100% trouble free we are living in cloud cuckoo land.

The vast majority of clubs have had a hooligan element for at least the past 40 or so years and will have for the next 40 i'm afraid....

Unless someone pumps some serious money into the club at some stage, we'll probably bounce between this league and the conference north.
For the short - medium term i'm happy with where we are and moving back into the town at BM..

Re: Guesswork Transfers Thread

Regarding Whitby - this apparent hate for Darlo is utter nonsense - to be fair hasn't it only been 1 or 2 individuals? My father in law was club secretary at Whitby, is still involved with the club and officials on a regular basis and is very close with Harry Dunn. They are pleased we've gone up and...

Can't see Armstrong going anywhere and is proven in the league we've gone up into - 1 in 2 for Whitby ? Him and Cartman to start up top for me.
Need 2 FB's 1 possibly 2 CM's and a winger if Mitchell goes.

Re: Do you support more than one club

As most young kids do, i supported the best team in the country at the time, so i took a shine to Forest in 1979 and its stuck with me ever since - fortunately i travel with my job, so manage to get a few Forest home and away games every year along with Darlo. Dreading a Derby-Boro 1/2 this season !...
