Sure I seen on Twitter that still have to pay them the annual fee, supposedly 60k... But the rest was effectively pay as you go.

18-19 accounts state "rent and rates" £68,913

Re: Ground share

There's another angle to this.
If we do move back to Neasham Road, I hope the allowed capacity is as high as possible.
There will be a lot of football fans desperate to see live action but denied the chance due to imposed limits at their normal stamping ground.
This could actually be an opportunity.

Slightly off topic I know but just been rumaging through my programme collection and speaking of October 3rd it was on this date in 1978 42 years ago Darlington FC had a magical night out at goodison park to play Everton in a league cup 3rd round game. Re: Sports village

Yes the Rugby Club have their sign. Oh wait it isn't that we want our own sign, we want to replace their one - is that what we are after? Just because there is one for the Rugby Club doesn't mean they didn't need Council permission to erect it. Existence of one structure with your name on it doesn'...

Re: Sports village

Something very simple that the Rugby Club could do as a signal of goodwill is to allow the Football Club to put a sign up at the entrance on Grange Road. I know some people think it is not worth making a fuss about but to me it is symbolic of our relationship. We are not even allowed to advertise t...

Re: Thommo

One thing I’ve never understood with certain Spenny fans is why they’re so keen to deny they’re bankrolled. I don’t get it. It’s actually more effective to just admit it, as it shuts down that line of attack much quicker. “We’re bankrolled, so what?” There’s not actually any issue with them living ...

I wonder if the new contracts have some caveat attached should games not be played until, say, next year. It will only be a good place to work so long as it is solvent.

Tightening the purse strings? I'm interested to know how many clubs voluntarily topped up the players salaries over the 80% furlough.

By the way, if it was the Manager's decision not to keep him on terms which he would accept, then of course that's his priviledge and what he is there for.
Doesn't stop me being disappointed though.

Re: Thommo

There's an assumption here that it's about money. Where he ends up might give a clue to that being the case. Phrases like "he was on double the money of some other players" are meaningless. We will always have a player who is on double the salary of another player. Personally I think the Manager was...

Re: Thommo

If he's good enough for Spennymoor then he's good enough for us. This is a classic case of a Manager favouring players that he has brought in over inherited personnel. He's definitely better than one lightweight winger from Blyth (for example) and he's certainly not over the top due to age or fitne...

I thought Thompson should have started in many of the games that he didn't this season. He ended up coming on at times when a miracle was required and (like any human being) couldn't always deliver it.
Very disappointed.

Polish announcement

Poland have just announced no mass gatherings in 2020.
Anyone hoping for a resumption in the UK this year will, I think, be disappointed.

edit: I have re-read the release on a Polish website and the Google translation is "loose" to say the least. May not be correct but looks like it.

Re: Isle of Man to join English pyramid?

The Channel Islands support a professional Rugby Club in the English Leagues, and that's a lot further to get to than IOM. For it to work I'm assuming the IOM would have to pay the ferry / flight costs for visiting teams. It's about 3 hours on the seacat from Liverpool or a 20 minutes flight from Sp...

Looks increasingly like our owner(s) have to put in about £150k a year to keep us at this level. Probably not dissimilar to several (much derided) other individual owners of clubs we compete against.
I suppose we have safety in numbers.

You can tell very little from small company accounts. It's just a balance sheet. The previous year's accounts illuminate the situation a little better: Their main current asset was £1.2m in debtors. Who on earth would owe them £1.2m you may ask?? The answer lies in viewing the accounts of DARLINGTON...

One thing that has struck me is how the loanees (perhaps with the exception of Nelson) have gradually drifted down to the level of the others after bright starts.
