Diego Maradona

Am I the only one who finds all the hero worship of this little prick a bit sickening. He was a cheating drug addled little s*** in my opinion. Sure he was a great footballer but not a good human being.

Re: Darlo in The Guardian

I particularly like this section Eight years have passed since financial calamity led to Darlington being demoted four divisions, from the Conference to the Northern League, and a fans consortium stepped in to buy the club. The long process of repairing the ruinous legacy of the vanity project othe...

Re: FA Cup TV Details

Don’t know about delay but watching Bradford City v Oldham on red button. Think the picture is better on Quaker TV to be honest.
Billy Clarke playing for Bradford seems a long time since he was playing at the Arena. Oldham currently 2-1 up and their second was a cracking strike from Danny Rowe.

Re: Away to Bristol rovers

Looking forward to this one with a real sense of excitement. Still massive underdogs but not no hopers by any means. Interesting to see that the 3 teams from NLN who have made it to Round 2 are all struggling with their league form. Brackley and Chorley both only won 1 out of 7 and below us in the t...

Re: Back to the Arena

H1987, I think you're being a little disingenuous the people in charge did what was thought to be the best that could be done at the time, with finances being what they were.we are where are because of many unpaid volunteers.who all want the same thing, a successful football club for Darlington. Re: Tier 3

No surprise being put into tier 3, no prospect of crowds being allowed to watch Darlo in Darlo this year. What happens of we play an away game at a club that is in a tier 2 area. Are we allowed to have take fans to their ground, I suspect the answer is no. Answer has to be no Pete as only essential...

Was always going to be Tier3 for the North East. Looking at the NLN in general it looks like most teams will still be playing behind closed doors.

Re: Team v BPA

I'd love us to sign a left-footed winger in the Richard Hodgson mould or a right-footed one who's comfortable going down the outside (like a Neil Heaney or Franz Burgmeier) as another option for when we're struggling to break down teams. Players who are neither tricky nor pacy, don't like to hug th...

Re: Team v BPA

Bower and team clearly did their research and implemented a game plan that we had no answer to. Well deserved. We will face the same thing every home game and we need a Plan B. Is it me or does our pitch seem narrow on Quaker TV. Possibly just the camera angle but at Guiseley and Alfreton we seemed...

Re: Team v BPA

Rare to disagree with AA in his post match comments but come on, “it was a decent performance but we lost it in first 10 mins” . “ enough chances to have won the game” . Take away a couple of long range efforts and can only remember one chance, McGuire’s header. Did agree that we rarely get crosses...

Re: Team v BPA

Well I hope that losing again in the league tonight was worth it. FA Cup is too much of a distraction now. Players eyes are off the ball before a big FA cup game, then there is always a big come down in the league match after an FA Cup game. It toys with our league campaign. [/quote] Give it a rest ...

Re: Team v BPA

Losing first four (including Boston) at home in the League is certainly not promotion form. Most worrying is that we seemed to have learned nothing from these defeats and are just doing the same thing every game.
Our tactics away work well but need a complete rethink for home games.

Re: Team v BPA

It certainly feels like Groundhog Day every time we play at home. Surely we have to play at least 2 of the following in midfield. Hatfield Wheatley Atkinson Holness. Otherwise we don’t complete well enough for the ball. We have to win the ball in in order to win the right to play football. Still thi...

How often do you think we will be one match away from a place in the FA Cup 3rd Round ? You're missing my point. It's not about how often this opportunity comes around (any other season I'd be hoping and praying we make it and draw a big club away), it's simply the fact that getting into Round 3 th...

Re: Team v BPA

Surely it is about having the maximum number of players to choose from for what many of us regard as probably our biggest match of the season. Don’t forget we have to play Gateshead and Hereford as well in the 6 days after Bristol Rovers so at some point the squad will need shuffling a bit. Might as...

Re: Team v BPA

I can't believe that people are saying field a weakened team tomorrow to concentrate on the cup. We play our best line up for both, or what's the point? And if we *must* prioritise one match over the other, then prioritise BPA. We are W3 L4 in the league (assuming the Boston result stands, which it...

Not even a question for me. Imperative we go into Sunday’s game with the strongest possible team we possibly can. Not just for the money but to ensure we put up a good show for the BBC viewers. Reaching the 3rd Round and the chance of a game with a Premiership Club and all that entails would be a ma...

I doubt that anyone has ever pulled a muscle by walking. But aren't you just as likely to get a muscle injury in training as you are playing a proper match? So I don't know whether schedule of fixtures is totally responsible for such injuries. Holness for example was that a muscle injury last night...

Laing was tortured by their striker at their place before going off injured. Reid stepped in and had him in his pocket, and he never had a look in after that.
Only limited evidence of Reid playing in the centre of defence but I really think it could be his best position.
