Re: Once the dust settles...
I agree that the EFL is fundamentally a bit of a dream, and spending money upgarding BM to even just NL standard would have some benefit to match day experience. But wouldn't we still be incredibly restricted in our revenue generation on non match-days? I personally would be very loathe to put furth...

I wouldn't mind hanging on to Lindley - I think he will turn into a decent player

Re: We’ve come along way.
It really is incredibly impressive and while the board received a lot of criticism over some of the decisions they made over the last 15 months, they equally deserve some credit for getting the appointment of Watson & Mitchell spot on, as well as the decision to ask the owners for extra funding to ...

Re: Blyth V Darlington
Nice to finally be out of the relegation zone! Still a way to go, but the way that we are playing now I am confident we will carry on picking up points. 7 games to go and we need - maybe about 10 points? That feels very doable, as long as we can keep key players fit. I do worry what would happen if ...

Re: Darlo V Scunthorpe
The impact that the 4 signings that Watson has brought in has been remarkable. We suddenly look calmer and more organised in defence, in no small part because of the leadership of Barrow and the ridiculousness of a talent like Young playing for at this level. And we can't stop scoring now, in no sma...

Also, according to Darlo Retro on twitter, the last time we had back-to-back wins was that fixture followed by the Gloucester match!Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 4:42 pmSame fixture last season on 6 December there were 284 in attendance, not sure how many Darlo fans in that figure.

Re: Boston v Darlington 20/02/24
It is genuinely sad to see Nelson such a shadow of his former self. In his first spell he was electric, but genuine misfortune with injuries has ruined him. Living off a very good loan spell from around five years ago. Done very well to even be playing again after his injuries, but he’s not up to i...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
I still had a modicum of optimism at 3pm yesterday, but I cant see any realistic path to us getting out of this now. We played OK, but we just don't have the quality in the squad. Watson's signings apart (too early to judge them), there's barely a player I'd be upset to see leave. Lees has grown int...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
If/when we do go down, there's plenty of blame to go around - Armstrong got his summer recruitment wrong, and couldn't turn around our form (we've been rubbish for about 13 months now - Armstrong was in charge for a lot of that), Gowling was a disaster, and the board have made numerous bad decisions...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
An apology and explanation would be nice. The reasons why Gowling got the job ahead of the rest would be a start. Then we as owners can see why they made the decision. A bit of transparency never goes amiss. Personally, as much as I think we're as good as down already, I think it would be right for...

Re: Asante
I'm not saying Asante hasn't been a huge disappointment (he has) or that the gamble of effectively replacing Hazel with him has worked out (it hasn't), but I do have a bit of sympathy with all of our strikers this season, as we just do not create chances for our strikers. Hazel looked awful for us, ...

Re: Darlington v Hereford
Credit to the defence, who I thought collectively had their best game in ages. Meanwhile, Main gave us everything that we've been lacking all season. The strength and movement transformed us into a team that actually could create chances - and presumably this is without a training session together t...

Re: Darlington v Hereford
Not sure it's about effort or us not taking chances for me - the players generally put plenty of effort in, but we just create next to nothing! It's why I have some sympathy for Asante, Nelson (and Hazel)
Anyway, here's hoping something turns up tomorrow!

Re: Pete Jameson
We are far more in need of attacking options - we've scored 2 goals in our last 7 games by my count! However, if the rumours are to be believed, I believe Jameson will improve us as I think he's a better keeper than Taylor (although as others have mentioned, be interesting to see if Watson gets the ...

Re: v Tamworth
Played ok until the final third. Plenty of effort but so little quality going forwards. We need a couple of decent creative players in soon if we are to have any chance. We’re not getting out of it with the current options.

Re: Good luck Steve Watson
We're in a terrible position, and it's a combination of factors in my opinon. It's not all Gowling's fault- we were bottom of the table when he came in and the likes of Hazel and Felix were key components of the team who went from top to bottom of the table, so they (and the other players) have to t...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson
Pleased with this. Lets see if the players react on Saturday. I agree this is positive. At least we've now got someone with experience in this league. To be fair, Gowling had experience of this league! Happy with the appointment - probably should have been the choice in September too. I feel slight...

Re: Darlington V Bishops Stortford
I would love to post what DJ stated as the reason for appointing JG but I promised the person who told me, (1 of those interviewed) that I would not do so. I also believe that DJ's position would become untenable and at this point in time I do not think the club needs such instability. "I know some...

Re: Darlington V Bishops Stortford
What an awful game. The defence, after seeming to have turned a corner more recently, returned to its usual form. We have zero creativity in the team, and Asante is still either woefully unfit, or he's finished. I cant see us picking up many points by the end of January given our fixture list and th...

Re: Darlington V Rushall
We have taken 8 points from 6 games - an average of 1.333 points per game If we can keep this up over the next 26 games that would give us 50 points - would that keep us up ? We can’t afford to be throwing points away like we have this week though Before this week we were all hoping for a minimum o...

Re: Darlington V Rushall
Taylor needs to go, he is always letting his team mates down. Thought we played really well, with some great performances. If we play like that for the rest of the season, then we will have a good chance of avoiding the drop. JG has got us playing some pretty decent footie. But we always seem to be...

Re: Darlington V Rushall
Very similar to Tuesday. We were the better side against a poor side, but we couldn’t make that count, and then ultimately let down by another very poor piece of goalkeeping by Taylor. Maybe gowling was right in attempting to strengthen that position. We are in real trouble. I think we’ve made some ...

Re: Warrington
Really disappointing to concede so late in a game we should have won. But that's what bad teams do - don't win games they should. Taylor should have done better for the goal - a poor bit of goalkeeping. We're in real danger of getting cut adrift. I'm hopeful we can pick up a decent points total over...

Re: Jacob Hazel
You can only win by scoring goals, team should of been built round him to bring out the best of his talents. We don’t often come across “natural” goal scorers and Hazel is one. Harry Kane would have struggled to score for us given the amount of chances we have created this season and back end of la...
