Re: The Areana

We are basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. We can't afford to start from scratch, and the 2 'solutions' available to us both have many issues which makes growing the club much harder. I really hope we find out something soon, so that we can figure what is the best (or should that be 'le...

Generating the millions needed to rebuild BM or build a stadium at the SV from scratch is not going to happen.

Re: Jamie Holmes out for six months

Real shame for him - hopefully his recovery goes well Also a bit problematic for us - having 2 players out injured for a long time is not ideal when we are completely spent up (plus Burn not playing either). On the flip side, we do have reasonable depth out wide with Thompson, Rivers, Donawa and Bell.

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

If Atkinson is going for those headers he isn’t sitting in front of the defence. Thankfully we have a good manager in Alun who can sort it out. We just sit back, relax and watch it all unfold. Certainly Hatfield missed the header for the second goal right in front of the defence. Either way, you've...

Re: The Areana

There's no point even talking about Heritage Park - we aren't going back. The biggest problem with Blackwell Meadows is that it's just a really awful place to watch football. No height + big run offs = crap views. And it's even worse when there's any sort of crowd in and you have to stand more than ...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

This Atkinson fella must be superb if he could have stopped those goals, looking forward to seeing Viera, Toure and Kante rolled into one! 1. Daft free kick. Header onto the bar (keeper could have tipped it over?) and then Liddle out jumped. Header looped in. 2. Hatfield goes for the header and mis...

Re: Curzon Ashton v Darlo

The defending for the last 2 goals :wtf: Hopefully this is just teething problems and it can be sorted out - I'll be amazed if we can't get a decent defence out of the players we have available. I wonder when Atkinson will be back, as it will be interesting to see what impact having him sat in front...

Have you got confused between Holness and Holmes?

I hope we don't start messing around with formations this early in the season. One of our downfalls last year. Watson in for Trotman, maybe O'Neill in for Holmes.

Re: Gateshead game...

I thought Laing had a good game. The odd bad pass but there will be when he’s attempting the balls he attempts. Gateshead didn’t create much so we must have been ok defensively on the whole And the “aimless long balls” in the first half were us clearly trying to play over the top of Gateshead. It di...

Decent end to the game. Probably a fair result. Gateshead were very solid although didn’t offer much going forwards. Good crowd too

Good to get the first point on the board - hopefully we can build on that on Saturday

Re: Farsley V Darlington Match Thread

In a game which possibly was the worst example of the 'non-league experience', in hindsight it was probably one of the worst opening games possible for us. A newly promoted team away, set up to play a system which I think we will struggle against at times, on a pitch which is the polar opposite of w...

A final point, DJ says that the budget is spent up. If we do get Omar, Heaton and Bell in, where will the money be coming from if we can't get Burn and Glover out on loan?
Unless the deals we are wanting to do have already been agreed, and just not announced yet?

(Pure speculation on my part!)

All sounds positive - which after last season is quite remarkable (ask me again in a few months time though  ). In my time following the club, I can't remember a more impressive group of peope overseeing the club. Between the directors of the football club, and the DFCSG, we have some real tale...

I personally think expecting a promotion push is a touch unrealistic. If everything comes together then we may have a chance of reaching the playoffs, but I'm personally not expecting that. The only expectation I have is of seeing progress on the pitch. After the mess of last season, I just want to ...

Re: Josh Heaton

Oh I'm sure they will score a decent number of goals between them. Just commenting on the one obvious 'weakness' in the squad is the lack of a striker who's proven at this level . We may not actually need a striker like that, or we may already have one in waiting in Campbell. If it can all come toge...

Re: Josh Heaton

If he has signed (which based on his tweet it certainly looks like he has) and gets back to the levels he was at in his previous spell, then our defence is looking superb. Laing has looked very good so far, Watson too, and we know Galbraith is solid. The only thing the squad appears to be missing is...

But we all know PolarBear and StevieVirgin will try and spin it “Spenny have sold nearly the same amount” even though they’ve handed a load out for free, artificially inflating figures. well done on your season ticket sales, about 100 more than Spennymoor, fantastic achievement... does anyone know ...

I was positive this time last year, so I'm trying to control my optimism until the actual season kicks off, but I think we're looking pretty good so far. The squad looks more balanced than last season, and we look fitter and with more of an idea of how we are trying to play. There's a couple of ques...

It'd be interesting to know the contractual details regarding the pitch - and whether there's any contractual obligation over quality. Quite frankly, unless the pitch dramatically improves, it could cost us money in gate receipts, as it'll be hard to play good football on that pitch as it stands, wh...
