Re: Rugby League

The problem that the rugby world cup has, is that they're are only 3 teams that have the potential to win the world cup & that is England, New Zealand & the overwhelming favourites Australia. For a strong tournament you need a tournament were the potential winners number more than 3 & the rest of t...

Re: Craig Morley

Some people on the Tin Shed really don't get social media and are posting some 'I heard this and I heard that' rumours, with some potentially very defamatory stuff being posted. I honestly don't think some of them can differentiate between gossiping in the pub and putting it out there for people to...

Re: Rugby League

Latest news on Weller. He had surgery on his ankle yesterday and is out for at least 2 months, so last seasons POTY and our new skipper misses at least the first 7 matches !!!! From another player, Mose can feel his toes but he is in a full body cast and not allowed any movement whatever. As said, h...

Re: Rugby League

The latest release on Mose. Hull Kingston Rovers owner Neil Hudgell has spoken to BBC Radio Humberside’s David Burns on the condition of prop Mose Masoe, who suffered a serious spinal injury at the weekend. “What looked like an innocuous challenge, something you see on the field 50 times a year, has...

Re: Rugby League

Blimey that's terrible news, lets hope the prognosis isn't as bas as it sounds. You have some terrible luck with injuries. He is in an induced coma and going to be kept like that for a few days at least. All we can do is pray. Yet again the rugby family comes together. I was in touch with the club ...

Re: Rugby League

As far as I know Wigan are not on. Leeds v Bradford is on for 2 reasons. 1, Jamie Jones is working for the media now so that causes interest and 2, the Rob Burrow news is in everyone's minds.

Re: Signs of global warming

You would expect hard frosts in the Scottish borders, as you would throughout the north east of England as well, but it just isn't happening. You would normally never see fly's anywhere during the winter, so to see one flying round in early January, just goes to show how mild it has been. Climatolo...

Interesting that Serbian side Red Star Brigade are planning to join the English Div 1 next year, non doubt they'll be trying to emulate the Toronto Wolfpack's rise to the Superleague this year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/51067524 Yep, the usual, "They are killing the game" brigade tha...

Re: Signs of global warming

I was working yesterday in Frosterley a village up in Weardale yesterday & I was amazed to see a bluebottle fly flying around outside. I was always told that you needed some hard wintry weather to kill off all the bugs & fly's before the following spring. We've barely had any frosts & certainly no ...

Re: Rugby League

Hard to believe that the SL starts in under 4 weeks, it only seems like yesterday when we had the GF. First TV game this weekend. Really happy for JJB that he gets a full house for his testimonial, even if it has been sort of derailed by Rob Burrow's problems. I am down in Wakey where KR have sold ...

Re: Gary Martin

Nice that the word promotion is being spoken of again as a possibility rather than some far off dream. I would have thought that if we are anywhere near serious contenders come the end of next month the club will be asking questions about what needs doing to the ground to get the grading required. I...

Re: Rugby League

New season shirts, season pass's etc all arrived in the post today. Our first preseason game is a week Sunday. Starting to get edgy to see if we as a club have got it right getting rid of the old heads and going for youth or is everyone else correct and we are relegated already before a ball is kick...

On another note, no mention of Gary Martin. Wonder if he'll be available for Gloucester. Not eligible to play until 2nd January, so Gloucester City onwards although how he is going to get into the squad at the moment is another matter! A sign of how things have changed. Not so long ago everyone was...

Re: Team of the decade

Where is Dan Burn and amongst others Liam Hatch, Jamie Chandler and Greg Taylor and how is Mark Cooper not the manager? Who are you putting Burn, Hatch, Chandler and Taylor ahead of? Genuine question. I think Dan Burn is mentioned for what he has become rather than what he actually did while with us

Re: Team of the decade

Good point on Gray. Whilst he usually brought results on the pitch he ran the club too close to the wire financially. I hope in time he'll prove to have had a far more positive impact on the club than Gray - but you can't argue that Gray's management style got us where we are, and regardless of its...

Re: Team of the decade

When I saw your comment about Turnbull being our "classiest" my eyebrows went up a notch, but came straight back down when I saw MBW, who, to me, takes that accolade easily. Only disagreement is with the manager. In the few months so far AA has brought a level of hope and belief, as well as far bett...

Re: He fought the law, and the law won

You can't really argue about the gas drilling of Cyprus, nor the breaches of Greece's Air space by the Turkish air force. Nor can anyone really dispute the number of boatloads of people "escaping" from Turkey. I saw a documentary a while ago where 2 brothers from Bodrum openly admitted they charge 5...

You forgot the Hang gliders. The Turks strap the refugees in and launch them off the hills above Fetiye towards the Greek islands. Apparently there's a chippy in Rhodes they can use as a safe house Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk Not seen Lesbos in particular in the news the last year and more?

Hopefully the whole thing will be dead and buried along with the euro within 5 years. Yeah, let's hope so. Over-rated innit, this EU thing. Seventy years of peace; assisting the extraordinary political, social and economic transformation of 13 former dictatorships, now EU members, since 1980; provi...

I started working for my current employer last year when I was 58 & if I keep my health I could have a 25 year for them. How many jobs these days could you start at 58 & have a 25 year with them, virtually none I would say. Thought you worked for the council Pete? I did wonder at the working weeken...
