Re: Darlington V Alfreton

Met Office have updated their forecast, not quite as cold tonight with a frost in "some places" rather than "most places"

Re: Darlington V Alfreton

If we leave it, then the match will be postponed tomorrow. And it's not because you have jinxed it.

The forecast is clear and the Met Office don't get stuff wrong just hours ahead.

We are fools if we have ignored the forecast. Expect a nice sunny, crisp white morning, and a day with nothing to do.

Re: Craig Morley

Agree with the above, I don't think we should speculate on such things. He may have chosen to leave, he may have been let go. Whatever, it's his job and we should respect his privacy I think. Regarding sponsors, I still find it odd we haven't tried to sell naming rights to the seating stand. You ca...

Maybe I've lost the plot (and it happens) but I thought when MG through a wobbler because we didn't have enough seats in to allow us into the play offs, we now have the seats, so what else do we now need to take us to the next level? A category A ground with 4,000 capacity, 500+ seats, and all of t...

Re: Gary Martin

It sill makes me shudder when I think about the wages Styche and Ainge were allegedly paid by us last season. No one knows what the players are on as it’s sensitive however the playing budget at £330k is very similar to last year under Tommy. Remember Tommy had to sell 3 times the FA Cup windfall o...

Re: Spennymoor Away

It was noteworthy that despite the freedom thereafter for the Darlo fans to spill out onto the pitch and make a real nuisance of themselves it was only a few who had been hurt or upset that ended up out of the allocated area. If mischief had been their aim and they had broken the barrier to gain ac...

Re: Spennymoor Away

However it seems over the last 18 months or so they have developed this "billy big bollocks" attitude, especially towards us. It's since they started pushing the "Pride Of County Durham" mantra and after a few people started taking it seriously. They've got a cheek crowning themselves that to be ho...

Having sampled that terrace and seen recent pictures and I'd be amazed if 900 people plus could be accommodated comfortably and safely on there.
Why? Several steps deep and full pitch length, it'll hold 900 all day long.

Re: Spennymoor Away

That side holds a thousand and with a block of seats behind the goal there will be ample room. Roll on 3pm tomorrow. I think the block of seats will be 200-250, and i think you will have small section behind the other goal. It will be a big crowd as 1504 for gateshead game, with 244 away fans, and ...

Re: Spennymoor Away

The capacity of that side is not sufficient to safely accommodate the number of fans that will be travelling. It's ridiculous and potentially dangerous. It should have been made all ticket if they were going to do this. That side was around 5/6 steps deep wasn't it? If so, full length of the pitch ...

Re: Spennymoor Away

This could well be a lock out .Absolutely ridiculous allocation of space given they know full well that we will have over a thousand travelling. Obviously keeping their new stand for the 40 or so Spendy fans that will fill it. Tossers. Why are we suddenly and obviously taking over 1,000? I bet we d...

Re: Spennymoor Away

The capacity of the entire ground is 3,000 and they are attempting to potentially put 1,000 on one very restricted side of the ground. We should have been allocated the new stand behind the goal. That would have been the safest and most logical step. I'd imagine that the capacity exceeds 3,000 afte...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

You’re being deliberately pedantic and exaggerating figures to make out building a modest uncovered terrace to raise the capacity is somehow astronomically expensive, when to anyone with common sense it clearly is not. No, not at all. Depending on the hard standing situation, we may need much more ...

Re: Spennymoor Away

Yeah, some of the Spendy supporters like polarbear and whoever pretends to be Tony Wilson are obsessed with our crowds so it's just a sad sac way of putting a few Darlo fans off. As far as they are concerned, if the all ticket thing gets around and is believed, even if it puts 50 Darlo fans off it w...

The ship had already started to sail by then anyway I checked online and I had only actually been to 4 games that season and 6 the year before so I was hardly what you would describe as a regular. Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

Look, this is becoming wildly more obscure. I’m not sitting and doing the calculations, but it’s simple, common sense that you build a terrace an appropriate size and do those calculations before you make it. The capacity of the tinshed is 1,200 and it’s only 8 steps. Yes, we can only use 2/3 of th...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

This really isn't that difficult to grasp. Hard standing is 4 deep. If you build a 12 step terrace, that's 8 people more deep. So lets say you have an area of 400 hard standing, with the 12 step terrace it can now hold those original 400 in the front 4 rows, plus another 800 behind them who previou...

Thanks Super Les, normally agreed well before so was starting to wonder. Could be a big hit for them if they lose to us again, with Kings Lynn to follow, and us having Gloucester, we could be 5 points ahead of the "Pride of County Durham" by Saturday night. Fair bit of pressure on them. They will b...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

Honestly, we add some extra seats to the corner (an extra 150?) and a terrace the capacity of the tinshed (ok it can only go 2/3 of the pitch, so instead you make it 12-13 rows deep rather than 8 to achieve this - whoever responsible can do the sums) and you'll hit 4,000 easily No, I'm afraid we wo...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

But how much financially would we stand to lose by shipping out of B.Meadows early? It's all very well making more on extras at The Arena, but what about the assets we leave behind - the Tinshed and side stand, they have a value and they cost us a lot to set up. How many years of extra income at Th...

Someone said that the away end holds 1,200. I can't see how, given that it looks smaller than the tin shed.

Did Blyth actually announce an away figure? 600 seems a reasonable guesstimate to me.

Well, we actually do, end of.

Though I'm in agreement with you that sometimes our fans just won't have the official figure, which is silly.

If a club says x fans were in the away end, then x fans were in the away end.

Re: Team of the decade

An idea shamelessly stolen from Twitter – who makes up your Darlingotn team of the decade? I’ve judged mine on a mix of contribution to the team, impact and ability. Goalkeeper – Sam Russell – We’ve had a lot of good keepers but no one has really stood out so I’ve gone for Russell who, in terms of ...
