Re: Blyth V Darlington

A great night, fans were excellent, both goals taken well. Players are running on fumes and need the break from 2 games a week. Confidence seemed just a little down after Spenny game as we dropped deep after Cornishes goal and gave what should have been easy passes away. We missed Nelson up front to...

Re: Darlo V Scunthorpe

I see that the York manager, according to York press, is considering recalling their loans to have a look at them and Barrow was the one mentioned, I hope that doesn't happen because he has been brilliant for us, but they are short of a left footed left back :( And of course they only have around 36...

Re: Darlo V Scunthorpe

Brilliant night of football, everyone in the team played their hearts out. Tactics were right for the game, but the players brought in by Steve and Terry have had a big impact, Barrow instills confidence and great left foot, Cornish runs and runs, with great skill and enthusiasm, Main with good stre...

Re: Curzon V Darlington

Anybody heard what the position is on Barrow and Liddle, SW mentioned Barrow thought it may be broken, I hope not as he is excellent. As a aside I was getting a bit frustrated on the night with the space their number 19 was getting, with Liddle drifting into the middle, but when I sit back and think...

Re: Darlington v Buxton

Keeper may be young, but he is good, confident and controls his area, no worries from me on him. If plat is free he should play centre half as we have players who can fit into midfield, in fact in pre season Headley looked excellent in midfield when he played there.

Yep I was at shields. And yes he was offside often, but Watson has said that the players need to gamble on opportunities so assume Nelson looking at that and assume he is desperate to get that goal, team struggling up front but I think that Main and Nelson will come good, question being just will th...

I hope it doesn't go wrong for Blyth, it is one of the clubs I have time for, I always enjoy going there, think they have good fans and a great club house and some of the best pies at football grounds.

Re: Boston v Darlington 20/02/24

Just shows you how different people see things, I thought Nelson was miles better than Main tonight, he was constantly busy, got into scoring positions, did not see anything from Main much tonight, just my opinion of course. Think Nelson is the fall guy because he is not putting them away rather tha...

Re: South Shields v Darlo

I was one of the lucky ones that were able to get into the stand for the second half, my opinion was at the time, as it was just below me, that it wasn't a red, but definitely a yellow as it was a reckless challenge and pointless one. Thought we could have also had a couple of penalties to be honest...

Not sure we have a balanced view on the loss of revenue to be honest, while clearly there will be hit from the league funding, and loss of 2 games as mentioned. The sponsorship etc may take a hit, but if we have a successful year may be not? Away following, there are only a few games where we get no...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

Those mentioning that AA was hard done by, and you could be right, but I had heard that he was not really getting involved in the training, and involved in his sons move from Harrogate, (true or not? I dont know), but more importantly for me he looked a down, and a beaten man on the interviews in th...

If we'd stuck the £30,000 on it to win how much would we have got?
£105,000
I got 3/1 early last night so £90k for bet plus the £30k stake = £120k, so depending on time of bet.

And the horse romped home, may be our team can now follow that example :D

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

DJ has led us to a path of success, over the last few years while keeping the finances in check, so not going into administration again, and 6 leagues down. There have been innovations like the way you can pay by tapping on a terminal to pay which were led by the board members, (very rare at other g...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24

We played well for the first 20 mins, and created some half chances, then because we didn't score went into hiding again, short passes sideways to players already under pressure, then long punt forward. Had the best chance of the game late on but no one able to calmly place the ball, but just kicked...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll

For those that think we can afford to get promoted in these last few seasons, please go and watch a few games in the national league, the standard is far higher than our league from the games I have watched, (all but one of the home games and half a dozen away games). Think Oxford are one of the few...

People seem to ignore what has already been said over the period as it suits their narrative I suppose. I don't remember a single fan complaining when AA got the 2 year extention as everyone was worried he would get poached given how we had been doing, not one of us forecast the way the season ended...

Re: Banbury V Darlington

We started brightly against what was a poor team last night, but they could pass to each other, and move once passed which often left them in space to recieve a pass where we are static. There were only 3 shots on target from memory from both teams, and they ended up in goals. Midfield were all over...

Re: Darlington v Hereford

Whole team played well today, every one put in a massive effort, Hatfield covered every inch, defence looked solid enough. Nelson gave great cover for Griffiths who had a task against their tall winger, although it did limit his chances going forward. There was more shots on target in this game than...

Main and Nelson up front imo, main can score at this level and provide assists, and I think Nelson would relish that.

We all have our own views, but for me personally I would go for Nelson, Salkeld has pace and looks lively when he is on song, but seems to have weak feet as not seen him win a 50/50 ball, he has a weak shot and doesn't win headers also lately was slow getting back to cover, (but that may be him suff...

Those considering the promotion in the near future to the national league, suggest you watch a few games in that league. Thought we started well, and the majority of players worked hard, but totally lacked up front. Players like Hedley who had a solid game defending often gave the ball straight back to their players. Saying that if he could hit the target he has a great shot from distance on him. Will Hatfield run his...

I have just put in as a one off, target is a bit of a stretch as it requires say 300 of the fans putting in £100 or 600 putting in £50 each, or £23 each from the 1300 regular supporters, what is just after Christmas to reach it. A fantastic start though and hope we can meet the target in what is a s...

While I am still paying monthly, think this is an exceptional set of circumstances and therefore willing to put in additional one off payment if it helps us get out of this bit of a mess.
