Re: The FA
The FA are obviously never going to let you use the original club's name. They are making an example of you and the more people complain, the more resolute they will be on the issue. Surely the solution is to adopt a more acceptable name (AFC Darlington - like AFC Telford United or FC Darlington - l...

Re: Jack Norton's injury
I had a ruptured ACL for 2 years before it was diagnosed and I had surgery. My knee kept giving way hence why I went for a scan. Leaving it had no long-term ill-effects (mine is as good as new), so Norton could probably defer surgery, but that being said, the knee giving out on the pitch could cost ...

Re: Mowden park and the arena
The club couldn't return to the Arena now even if it wanted to. It would make a mockery of the reasons for leaving in the first place. A complete new-build is out of the question due to funding, especially as the community ownership precludes a major investor. To me there are 3 realistic options: Da...

Re: Mowden Park Rugby Club - The Arena!?
And what about the pissing football club Jenny? Are you not bothered any more? To be fair she talks about us at the end of the interview in very positive terms and a vague mention of different options for a return to Darlo inc a hint at Feethams. I will be very surprised if there is a return to Fee...

Re: Mowden Park Rugby Club - The Arena!?
I think people will find in the coming days that this deal, if it goes ahead, will be wider than just Mowden Park buying the Arena. My own view is that facilities will be much more of a benefit for the town i.e. that the sports hub planned for Blackwell Meadows will be built on the land surrounding ...

Re: We are "Darlington 1883"
Oh well question answered. I still think you should have tried Darlington AFC. If they didn't like it, it could have been changed. Its not as though you owe the FA any favours. That's just it though Charlie, what would have been the ramifications? If we submitted a name and they knocked us back I'm...

Re: We are "Darlington 1883"
I can't see why we couldn't have been Darlington AFC when the previous name was Darlington FC.
It would be interesting to see if the 1883 board could categorically say that the FA ruled out Darlington AFC. If they did, then fair enough.

You can't blame them. They joined a professional club with the hope of making the grade. Why would they stay to become part-timers?

Re: If the club's name has to change, what would you go for?
The FA can't make us change our legally entitled name charlie, CAN'T. Spennymoor United went BUST, that's why the FA won't let Spenny take that name. Darlington FC did not go bust, we still are the same club, we own the name. But Darlington FC have, to all intents and purposes, gone bust. The origi...

We are NOT going to change the fucking name! We've paid a hundred fucking grand for it you tit! Hey, simmer down mate! If you note, my post started with an If . To be honest, though, I think the FA will insist on some compromise. There is already a precedent in the NL with Spennymoor Town. The orgi...

Re: Player Signings
Getting experienced players at this level won't be easy. Why would any of the Spennymoor and West Auckland lads want to come to Darlington when they are in good established sides? The only thing that could swing it for some lads is if DFC could pay more than their current clubs. It would be dangero...

If the club's name has to change, what would you go for?
Darlington 1883, AFC Darlington, Darlington Town, Darlington Community FC???
What about just plain Darlington if the old share name was Darlington Football Club? No doubt the FA wouldn't allow this.
I had to choose an alternative it would be Darlington Town for me.

Re: NL website - looks like it will be a new name too
If this was going to happen, it would have been better to have folded in January and applied to join the NL before the March deadline. My gut feeling is that the phoenix club would have still been placed in NL 1. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, eh Mitty? Edit -why lower myself to your level. Pathet...

Re: Appeal if we are placed in the Northern League?
If it was up to me, which it isn't, I would try an appeal. 1883 have nothing to lose. The worst that can happen is that the FA say no. I would use safety issues at away fixtures and police resources as my main points. Getting the local police forces (Durham, Northumbria and Cleveland) onside would b...

Re: NL website - looks like it will be a new name too
The phoenix club issue boils down to the football share, rather than exiting without a CVA. Both the share and the failure of the CVA is down to one person - Raj Singh. The bloke has fucked DFC big style. If this was going to happen, it would have been better to have folded in January and applied to...

On second thoughts, that could read the other way.
Either way, they see it as a new club which is no doubt the reason for the big drop.

NL website - looks like it will be a new name too
The FA are regarding club as a phoenix club apparently and are not happy with the name Darlington FC: Both Darlington and Durham City will play Northern League first division football in 2012-13, the FA confirmed this afternoon. The FA is regarding Darlington as a “new” club, however, Friday’s meeti...

I haven't put anything thing in and didn't originally (held x amount back) as I had my doubts it was going to work. Even though I still have grave doubts about this whole thing and am probably not going to go next season, I will still put something in. Not sure how much, though, but it won't be a hu...

The police won't say anything until the decision is made. Police objections would go a long way to persauding the FA to reconsider if they did put the club in the NL.

It's even gone dead on here, the place was buzzing when the share offer was announced. Has the reality of the level and town we'll be playing in next season started to hit home? Do people think we've lost our club? Most of the people I know who aren't fans do indeed think the original club has gone...

Re: momentum
To be honest, I don't think anywhere near the amount of money will be raised this time round. Most people who put in last time were trying to save a professional club at BSP/BSN level in Darlington, not re-establish a club at this level. Falling down the leagues, going part-time and leaving Darlingt...

Northern League - Police Concerns???
Having a quick look at the Northern League, by my reckonings 18 of the potential 24 Div 1 clubs fall within the Northumbria (10) and Durham (8) police force areas. If DFC take several hundred to away games, this will require police resource in terms of crowd control, traffic etc. Although nearly all...

Re: Ray Simpson Tweet - Prominent NL say DFC in NL
If 1883's Darlington FC end up in the Northern League, prepare for a hell of a shock. It is the strongest league at its level. It is no coincidence that the FA Vase has remained in Northern League hands for 4 seasons and this season saw an all NL final. If the club is placed in NL 1, providing it ca...

Given the speculation regarding Darlington FC being placed in the Northern League, if this were to happen, could 1883 back out of the ground share agreement with Shildon FC? If the club does get put into the Northern League (worst still NL Div 1) we'd be no better than a phoenix club. Which given that we aren't a phoenix club, can't be right surely? If the club goes into the NL, will it go into Div 1 as Durham have already been accepted taking it up to 23 clubs next year. Would they want to run with 24 clubs?
The Northern Counties East League, on the other hand, has only 20 clubs.
