Re: Alun Armstrong article

It's a pity that Alun didn't mention the btb in his interview, but like others have said a 'great article'. Why does it matter? It’s had a significant amount of exposure, to the point where many others are following suit now. I wouldn’t exactly call it a pity that it didn’t get a mention in a regio...

Re: Increasingly unlikely playoffs

They can’t complain, not when they spend hundreds of thousands on a budget each year to attract players from far & wide. Nobody forced them to take the case on. Agree most of this seems to be covering the FAs legal fees. What would be the alternative that all other affiliates to the FA have to effe...

Play-off dates: 18th/19th July: Eliminators 25th/26th July: Play-off Semi-Finals 1st/2nd August: Play-off Final If the National League hadn’t badly misinterpreted the guidance from DCMS then clubs would be well under way with their training schedules & perhaps close to playing their first play-off g...

Rumours on Twitter that we are in for Nicky Hunt who has just been released by Crewe. 36 year-old who played centre half for Crewe last season and was apparently quite good.

Re: 19/20 Season Ticket Refunds

Maybe - I just don't see why send it out now and not a month ago then if trying to establish VAT treatment is neither here nor there and could always come next - when it was said that only finer details were being worked out on 23rd May. It's no coincidence that the refund statement has been announ...

Re: 19/20 Season Ticket Refunds

Lo, JE93 has already pointed out that the suggestion of issuing refunds for all & then having the VAT donated back is risky strategy. You're over-complicating it. The club will save money by many fans not asking for refunds and then they will attempt to claim a percentage of the VAT back paid on sea...

Re: 19/20 Season Ticket Refunds

This VAT donation of season ticket monies isn’t straight forward btw. I understand the club is still checking the legalities before adjusting the accounts. Surely that would have been done before the "opt out" email. There wouldnt be a legal question mark if there were two transactions that took pl...

Ok name me another club thats the same club, not a phoenix club that has been demoted 3 divisions since 2012? He had 5 in 10, and we were awful.

He only had a few games back after being away on international duty before being sold.

Re: Next season’s captain

I watched Styche many times for us & although sometimes selfish with the ball, I certainly wouldn’t say he was detrimental to the team. He dragged us through the 17/18 season after he signed & started the 18/19 season very well before being sold. He would sometimes have a shot where a pass was the b...

Re: Next season’s captain

Styche was certainly more than decent at this level, and definitely not a liability. So would you want him back and be prepared to pay him a silly wage ? Thought AA had proved that he can build a squad on a realistic budget and we had moved on.Styche was a decent striker but not value for money sur...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

I'm not an Arena fan boy. I don't mind the Arena or BM. I am however, being realistic to the situation which we are in and the proposed limits to both fan and hospitality capacity. This makes up a significant percentage of our turnover. I'm intrigued at your point of the concrete terrace at Blackwel...

Re: David Johnston's Netcafe

I’m glad we have DJ in charge BTBH nothing really new came out on Friday. Reading between the lines Craig did very well selling the board space which has increased rapidly but compared to previous years when we secured Virgin & Ebac he didn’t have any big ticket to sell as we don’t own our own crow...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

I think that it would be helpful if anyone commenting on the actual or potential liabilities under the agreement / contact / lease/ license with DRFC could mention whether or not they have seen, or have a copy of, the actual signed agreement. On a somewhat tangential point while I am no contract / ...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

The rent is calculated on a match basis, not per annum. As far as I understand it, no games played at BM equals no rent due to DRFC to stage football matches. It’s obviously not that as if it was we could walk away at any time with no cost. I expect it’s a match fee with a minimum guaranteed matche...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

I doubt it’s as simple as that as we could just walk away and not pay a penny. I didn’t say that it was that easy. I explained that if we didn’t play matches at BM, then we wouldn’t have to pay DRFC rent to stage those matches as the rent is calculated on a match basis (i.e not a fixed amount). Obv...

No, but it shows at least that he was key part of an efficient defence. Re: The Team 20/21 season

It’s a good idea, and one which I am sure the board will be exploring. However, there will be two issues with it. The first being negotiating with DRFC to get out of our current lease agreement for a season and the second being securing primacy of tenure with DMPRFC. Given that we pay DRFC a signifi...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

Plans for the proposed National League restart in September for Steps 1 & 2 includes a caveat that stadiums will operate at 25% capacity.

This isn’t ideal for us given the gate & matchday income to turnover ratio.

In a standard job if you were not pulling your weight and doing the bare minimum whilst having a bad attitude then you would be on competence procedures.

There is certainly a lot which we agree on. The ability, commitment & attitude were all lacking. Criticisms of him are absolutely fair in regards to his ability/attitude. Re: Cartman +Burn

Always makes me laugh when Darlo fans slate Burn for not ripping up his contract or moving on when WE offered him a 2-year deal. Don’t get me wrong, he was awful for us. I honestly don’t know why Whitby have signed him but contracts protect both the player & club and give either, or both, some secu...
