Re: George Reynolds

Roughly what Gramps said. He was a nasty piece of work and a bully. I’m sure it was only last year he was in the papers for threatening a local female councillor. Says it all about him. A thug to the end. Mind you, given the size of him based on the photos I last saw, I’m amazed he made it as far as...

I notice Craig Stoddart just retweeted something with him saying RIP?

Has he finally shuffled off to a warmer place?

This forum serves no purpose anymore other than a mouthpiece for arena worshippers..... About 25 pages of posts a year.... Lost all but 2 mods and board has about 5 posts a day Most true darlo fans have long since left for pastures new... Let it go Close it down No longer a part of my club..... Bye...

Re: It is no wonder this site is

I don't think it's too bad, and the tinshed (on facebook) was far worse. I don't use facebook anymore anyway and i'm a lurker on twitter (work account) so I stick with here. To be honest, the big reason it's quiet now is because there's nowt to talk about really. I think we're all sick of covid, it's...

Re: Pool(s) If You Think It's Over

There's literally nothing wrong with Victoria Park for football at the level it's being played at. The guy is a delusional fantacist, who will then blame all around him for his failures if it goes wrong. Clubs in the NL need to make money from their ground outside of matchdays. I don't think he is ...

Re: South Shields

Did they ever do the work to expand their ground? I know it needed doing to get to this level.

I'm not quite sure I get what their owner is trying to do. There's no way they can develop that place for the football league, so I wonder what the end game is.

Re: Nasty defenders

I'm well aware footballers don't work 9-5 monday to Friday. They have to work Saturdays too! (I mean, I feel like you set me up for that one). But I've provided a long list of reasons why someone may want to stay local and why that would be better for them. All you have asserted is that it doesn't ...

Re: Nasty defenders

Oh fair play. In that case Hartlepool. It never fails to surprise me how much footballers tend to lean towards moves "home". It is perhaps a mind set that all contracts are a temporary move. Still remember Joe Cole used to commute from London to play for both Liverpool and Lille and Steven Warnock ...

Re: George Reynolds

I wonder if he hadn’t been our ‘Knight in shining armour’ and paid off our debts would we have went bust and lost Feethams anyway? I like to think if he hadn’t turned up that day we’d have found another buyer or ended up starting again at Feethams and 20 years later we’d be in a much better positio...

Re: Darlington V Hornchurch Trophy Quarter Final

Well no one is going to take either of them, but also, I don't think i'd be offering either of them much of a contract. I know Holmes has had rotten luck and I feel for him, but he's ultimately played next to no football in two years while we've paid his salary. It's not a good argument for paying h...

Re: Darlington V Hornchurch Trophy Quarter Final

Having said that, Charmen, Campbell, McGuire, Sousa, Rivers and Holmes if all fit makes the squad Unbalanced. Agree to some extent. For me, Holmes (as harsh as that is) needs to be the one to go. If two, the second one would probably be McGuire. Of course, you'd maybe reconsider that if one of Char...

Re: Darlington V Hornchurch Trophy Quarter Final

We have the basis of a good squad at this level; Retain on a contract: McMahon, Hedley, Storey, Liddle, Watson, Hatfield, Wheatley, Reid, Rivers, Sousa, Charman, Campbell, Maguire Retain on a non-contract basis: Laing (ACL/MCL injury), Atkinson, Holmes (ACL injury) Sign: GK, CB (x2) & CM. Re: Fans’ forum

Idea of moving back to the Arena has been kiboshed for now (Josh will be happy). Interesting line from Dave Mills saying the relationship with the rugby club at Blackwell is as good as it’s ever been. Not a suprise at all, I knew this was inevitable after the majority of true fans rose up and refus...

Not surprised Derby are on the list. Their owner is seriously dodgy. They've been throwing money at getting out of that league for years with no obvious source of income to balance their FFP requirements.

Re: Season null and voided

Hats off to both the National League and the Government for making a right royal pigs ear out of all of this. It's the right thing to do, but let's remember that this will now end up costing the tax payer *more* than if they just came up with some grants... and that's not to say the National League ...

I’ve always found York fans pleasant, but there’s been some right clowns on the internet over the past few weeks. I don’t know if it’s just a vocal minority, or if the last year just makes people more irritable and opinionated. (The truth might be somewhere in the middle). It has to be weird opening...

Re: Board Statement 15 Feb

So, effectively, we will stop playing league fixtures from now, but we will come back if there is a sniff of making some money. Isn't this the point of all football. It is not played for esoteric reasons but in the hope that success will lead to pounds in the bank. Some will search for that in a pr...

Re: Board Statement 15 Feb

What are you talking about? The whole point is financial. I'm simply pointing out we aren't even thinking of playing the Trophy game to make money, it's just that we can actually afford to play it without running the club into ruin. We obviously all want to see the club playing games, but there is a...

Fair points Gramps but some seem to base their opinions solely on photographs which are no doubt realistic. However, surely you need to actually physically visit the ground and experiance a match to make a proper judgement? PS Can you build a new ground within budget that has character? Of course g...

Re: Board Statement 15 Feb

I doubt we'd even make money out of playing the Trophy game, we'd probably just break even. The point being that we would like to play football without endangering the future financial stability of the club. The trophy, we can. If we continue in the league, we will drive the club into debt. That's t...

Someone on twitter has asked if it is legal to furlough an employee and...

Re: Kidderminster Harriers 13th Feb

I really fail to see what is taking them so long. How hard is it? There aren't that many clubs. I'd have thought most of them have made a public announcement on the matter, so the hold up is either incompetence or, I suspect, backpedalling behind the scenes. I've actually lost track of what has and...
