Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread

I've been arguing that Campbell isn't a centre forward, but people have been telling me he is fine in that role as evidenced by the number of goals he scored. So is the consensus now that Campbell isn't a centre forward? I think he can play as part of a 2 or 3, but he can't lead the line. So yeah, ...

Re: Will Darlo go for the hybrid model?

I doubt it yet. It might be the plan down the line, but we need to get BM up to national standard first, and there will still be some 500 club's running. Maybe in a few years we might adopt such an approach. I don't necessarily think it's the secret to getting out of this league either.

Re: Josh Heaton

Gobbing off on twitter about how 'if you're born a man, you're a man, and if you're born a woman, you're a woman' and then calling people freaks (i'd assume he means transgender folks).

He's obviously a bit ignorant, but he's then sort of doubled down on it for the attention.

Re: Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa

I'm not even sure it would have made that much difference to the outcome last night. It was an out-and-out centre forward that we were crying out for last night. Someone with a bit of presence to really trouble their defence, hold the ball up, bring others into play and score goals. A bit like Ty O...

Re: Today's results Saturday November 16th 2019

He's absolutely head and shoulders above this league. I doubt he'll be there beyond January as surely someone comes knocking from higher up the ladder, but it'll probably make Blyth a few valuable quid.

Re: Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa

Not only did we not have the option to do so, i wouldn't think it'd be right to have robbed them of the chance to play against Mexico, in Mexico. Regardless of what our game meant to us, that's the game of their lives I would think. I'm happy for the pair of them, and i'm sure it'll only have benefi...

Re: Post 2012 XI

I'd have White in at the back, Galbraith left back and Ferguson in midfield. He was far more effective played further forward, probably in place of Falkingham. Turnbull and Hatfield are shoe-ins. Front three would be Thompson, Styche and Purewal for me I think. For some reason I'm struggling to thi...

Interestingly, in his post match interview, AA talks about 'looking at developing this place'. Presumably he is privy to such discussions, and it's not something just pulled out of thin air.

these areas in black (in the link below) could easily be used to expand the capacity of the ground by only 700. Easily. There's plenty of room. https://cdn3.imggmi.com/uploads/2019/11/20/8e25329bf5b9ec8d5d9d73412f76282f-full.png The original schematics are still here (below link) - i just doodled o...

Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread

Watched it with a few friends who were getting behind us in spite of not knowing what was going on.

I thought we gave a good account of ourselves. Hatfield was my MOTM, but Liddle had a good game also. Campbell can't lead the line like. We miss O'Neil massively.

Re: Gates

I've gone back and forth on the arena vs Blackwell debate over and over again, but now I'm firmly in the anti-arena camp. Blackwell's biggest negative for me it the water-pipe restricting development. I don't mind the clubhouse along one side as I think Blackwell could be ok if a deep terrace could...

Re: Gates

Anyone recall the amount of money it would cost to redirect the water pipe so that we could then look to put permanent stands up? I'm sure it was mentioned that it would be about £1m, could be wrong. Then even if we decided to do it we would have to get permission from our landlords to do so and al...

Playing non-league football on a plastic pitch at a giant empty stadium where we previously went under, sounds really tempting.
Exactly  not to mention the other times we narrowly escaped.

Re: Gates

Increasing capacity to 4000 is far from easy. You can only build on about 60% of the open end. A terrace would increase capacity but you'd lose the equivalent of four rows deep standing in front of it. So you are taking about a terrace of 1400 or so, which is not cheap at all. It would have to be t...

Re: Flares /pyrotechnics

I notice on the official site that there will be bag searches at the turnstiles tomorrow night. Problem with that is that the flare throwers are unlikely to be carrying them in a bag, more likely in their coat pocket. Hopefully there is a plan to spot likely suspects and check any bulging pockets. ...

Post 2012 XI

As I’m having trouble concentrating today, my mind was wandering, and thinking of our best XI post 2012. So far I’ve gone for 4-3-3: Pears Trotman Brown Galbraith Ferguson Falkingham Turnbull Hatfield Styche Nelson Thompson I’m decidedly unsure about Brown and Galbraith as a centre half pairing... b...

Re: Osagi Bascome and Justin Donawa

Mixed bag for our lads in Mexico. Bermuda lost 2-1 after Mexico scored in 90+3 minutes. Osagi credited with an assist but picked up a yellow card on 65 mns & then subbed. Justin played for 81 mns then subbed. Sounds like a creditable performance from both against top opposition. I suspect they both...

Les, If that was aimed at me I am not advocating going back simply the fact I keep on reading that the arena broke the club. It didn't. People with agendas did. It was people with agendas that helped cause our downfall at the arena. However Mowden seem to be swimming against the tide too as their m...

Re: Sold out?

We would kill for crowds of 4,500 at home games. (Granted we haven't got the facilities to cope with that at this stage) If we had that amount of interest from the town, a town of a population of around 110,000, we would not be playing as a part time club in division six. So much emphasis is placed...

It's not a big game for them though. That's just the reality. Yes, we'd still take a few hundred there on a midweek. It's a huge game for us. For them, they're in this round of the cup annually, and we're non league, part time opposition. That's just it. It's a long way to go for a midweek game, tha...
