Re: Shorter games ?
Reading through this thread and watching the news has got me wondering about the idea that we might as well scrap this season with the hope that there may be a chance to have a more normal season next year. Some of the chances of getting back to normal will depend on the roll out of the vaccine. Acc...

Re: Fixture backlog
A successful run in the Trophy would, of course, add to the pressure. Three games a week occasionally? Would also add to the bank balance. Agree. Fixture back log vs good Cup run and a healthy bank balance you can't have it both ways unfortunately. Maybe a bigger bank balance might allow for more p...

Re: FA Trophy
Ok. We actually enter at the 2nd round proper. If you don't believe me look on the official website. Win our next 2 games and It's a guaranteed 10k. It doesn't take much to confuse but this clearly has. I'll just embarrass myself one more time and shut up, but if we win the next two games isn't it ...

I don't think we are alone in having an issue about playing at home in the current season. Looking at the table, taking out the top two who have been exceptional at home, very few teams have the kind of results that home advantage normally brings, whereas there are more teams who appear to be having...

Re: Government Bailout for National League
We do not know the exact financial compensation each Club will receive for "for essential revenue lost from fans not returning in October" as per the statement from the NL. DJ explained we had to complete a return of some sort which I imagine requested our match day revenue, hospitality,50-50 draw,...

Re: Update Required?
Talking of updated info, I have just been watching the Andrew Marr politics show on TV where he was interviewing Oliver Dowden, the Minister who has responsibility for Sport. He was questioned about the sports sector, and football in particular, being painted into a corner by the new restrictions, a...

The two trial events mentioned in the interview. These involve 300 persons for one then 600 for the other. Do I suppose that these will be hastily arranged pre-season friendlies that a few supporters will be allowed to attend to test the arrangements for social distancing?

Re: impact on ground capacity
Darlington at the moment is clear of coronavirus, If people follow the guidelines and use common sense while attending functions, football matches, and the like I think we will as save going to the matches as we would shopping or other activities, but it's down to the sence of the people, it's in t...

There is no rush until the outcome of the pilots is received and we actually start to plan for ticketing etc. for the first home game. Until it is confirmed by the FA that elite football may admit a safe proportion of fans based on certified capacity (in line with government guidance) then we don't...

Re: impact on ground capacity
What is the purpose behind resticting crowds? To ensure a safe environment in which to enjoy our sport. The purpose is not to hack off supporters by preventing those who wish to attend from doing so. The purpose is not to destroy the viability of small clubs with narrow margins from existing by maki...

Is there any logical reason that some people hate the Arena . Obviously there were bad times there due to unscrupulous characters who had no interest in the Football Club . The Arena in itself was not and is not the problem . The place is not jinxed or haunted . To state that you would never go the...

Re: Ground share
I really can't get my head around the hysteria about the Arena in this context. I'd always be firmly against a long term or permanent return to the Arena because its simply awful watching football in a 25'000 capacity stadium with 1500 people inside. But all the faffing on about "what it represents...

I don't see many who do not understand the sense of going to the Arena if it makes the club more money than staying at BM, and would have the additional benefit of keeping faith with all fans who wish to see the team play, rather than excluding them at the risk of alienating the many pay on the gate...

Re: Maguire & Langstaff Released
I was reading some of the York Press responses to one of their articles on players leaving York, and there seemed to be some consensus that they were cool on losing Kempster, less happy, but not surprised, to lose Ferguson, but happy that they would be able to build a new team around Green.

Re: Sports village
Just some idle thought for an idle Sunday. There does seem to be quite a lot of praise for what we had at Bishop and but for the desire to get back to Darlington and get a ground that was fit for the level we are at, might well have served right up to the present. So the idea of being out of Darling...

Re: Sports village
Well the news about the SV is a little disappointing as it reduces the options the club has to move forward, but I was never convinced that it had the makings of realistic opportunity. And other options, like a new site, even if the land were to be granted by the council, look to be miles away from ...

I wonder if Armstrong will feel the same way about Omar if he believes that his desire is to find another club. He has clearly stated that he only wants players who are committed to playing for Darlo. Any suggestion that they are keen on other options might rule them out of the reckoning. It is also...

I am I suppose one of the luckier ones in this pandemic, as I am on a pension, therefore cant lose my job and to be honest saving money as pubs are shut, (in pub with mates normally most days and don't like drinking at home), and saving on fuel for the car. So while previously upped my monthly cont...

I think it was £104,300. Pretty sure it was just over the £103,000 mark, so today has certainly broken through that barrier, and given the uncertain times for everyone's finances, this is a truly remarkable total already. But with days to go it may well be possible to get close to DJ's wish list ta...

To be fair, AA mentioned that he needed to get some games under his belt then he'd give him a trial. I think that we may get to 31st May and the club could well use the existing funds to tie down the key players Alun wants to keep/sign and decide to continue BTB for another month to have a sort of slush fund to allow Alun to tweak the team as the season progresses. This will also encompass at leas...

Holness & Bascombe filled a hole when injuries had ravaged the squad and wish them both well in their future career, however they were at best only utility players. Donawa is a more gifted player & could turn a game so would want him in the squad for next season. Certainly when the 3 of them were a...

Hi everyone just wondering at this time of year and at a loose end wondering what other fans think was their favourite game of the Easter period of all time for me it as to be the Hartlepool derby at feethams in 1982 2-1 down at half time before Alan Walsh struck that magnificent four goal salvo to...
