National League advises ending the season

The National League is going to hold a vote on whether to hold any more fixtures this season. The league themselves are advising clubs to vote in favour (I.E. we wouldn’t play again in the 19/20 season). Should that vote be passed, there’ll then be a follow-up on vote on several options for how the ...

Stop being a twat.

What decision do you want them to make? No one knows when this pandemic will end and restrictions will be lifted. So what exactly do you want?

Back on subject, I notice Rugby Union has managed to sort out their leagues in a sensible manner. Although I accept their’s were easier to come to a conclusion that satisfied most. You say that, but Ealing who are 2nd in Championship are seeking legal advice with a view to proceedings because they ...

Re: Season VOIDED

The League have now suspended matches indefinitely. Basically the news is there is no news.

Trouble is their hand will be forced in the next few weeks anyway because of the contract situation. They’ll have to offer some clarity to clubs so players know what they’re doing.

Re: Season VOIDED

Excellent couple of posts gramps but like I've stated elsewhere I don't know what your opinion is but I think for the integrity of both league and non league football barrow must be allowed to fill the vacancy in the football league created by the sad demise of bury. I would have completed the seas...

Very well put H1987. The idea of forcibly extending players’ contracts to an as yet undetermined date, with clubs having to pay out for that, is beyond ludicrous. The example of Simon Ainge earlier in the thread is a very good one. The club have made it clear they don’t want him. He most likely does...

There’s a big difference between the two. Lockdown is a temporary measure to prevent the spread of a lethal and highly contagious virus. It’s also not illegal under law (otherwise it wouldn’t have been enacted). Forcibly extending players’ contracts without permission doesn’t have any medical justif...

Re: Season VOIDED

Nobody said anything about different squads. The FA have the power to stop any sort of transfer. Contracts can resume when the season restarts. Not that simple and you know it. 1. See Super_Les' point about rewriting contracts. Can't happen. Plus a lot of players may wish to move elsewhere so won't...

Would also add that until you know for definite when the season is going to restart, there will be loads of uncertainty regardless. Therefore it’s impossible at this stage to plan for a later date, because you don’t know when that later date is. Saying “We‘ll finish at a later date” is all well and ...

Our banana munching "friends"

I'm sure, if owners putting money into football club to keep things going is such a bad thing, PJ Poolie will be encouraging Raj Singh not to put any money into Hartlepool over this period. Of course, this would mean Hartlepool go bust, but there we go. Couldn’t have put it better myself. Would it ...

I don't see how anyone could fail to see the irony in BJ getting the virus. I don't wish him ill at all, but my first thought when I heard the news was I hope a few of the fools learn from this. Just yesterday people were arguing on a selling site that "It can be sorted so we are safe" when going t...

What are you saying? That Boris thought being Prime Minister and dealing with global issues would be straightforward? Stop talking rot and put your political views aside. Are you sure? I thought there were just extra prelims on extra prelims that take place? The point is in the handbook to settle the season there is nothing in that rulebook re application of PPG. The trouble for the FA is they were damned if did do something and damned if they didn’t. The fact any contracts expired at the end of April, combined with non-league clubs not being able to pay essential bills without having income, left them with about 2-3 weeks to make a decision. If non-league m...

They don’t have to “sort things out ASAP”. In fact, it’s impossible to do that given we don’t know what the spread of the virus will be like. It could still be rising or we could be through the worst. We just don’t know. I think the fact it it is still rising suggest it is still rising to be honest...

But Spen, if Spennymoor were top of the league? A once in a generation chance of taking their superb perimeter fence up to the Holy Grail of The National League. Be honest now ..... Bit of a mixed message in the article in one breathe says null and void but then goes on to say Barrow and Harrogate would be nominated for promotion. Totally unfair if true. Agree with al_quaker. Football won’t start until late April at the very earliest (and I suspect that is optimistic). Which means if you were to restart, by the time you play the remaining 8-10 matches, plus play-offs, you’d be playing into at least June, perhaps July. That’s potentially 2 and half m...

Gramps, your request for a personally engraved golden toilet seat is the most pointless one I've heard yet. No-one needs a toilet seat any more. We're all shitting in holes in the ground and using leaves as there's no bog roll. I don’t care, we are FAN-OWNED. That’s my justification for every decis...

As we’re a fan-owned club, I think the players should provide me with my own personally engraved golden toilet seat, an all-expenses paid trip to Barbados and a lifetime supply of hobnobs, all out of their own wages. Don’t care that they’ve got bills to pay - this is a FAN-OWNED CLUB. Anyone else wi...
