Re: Gloucester (A)
How did Asante look / do? Did all right, lasted nearly whole game. was able to hold the ball up . When he is fully match fit will be a real handful and we saw glimpses of how he can spin and turn defenders. Williams as well when he came on looked a good signing albeit for only a month. Lindley grew...

Re: Peterborough V Darlington
Thought that we were unlucky to go behind in the first half, but we never threatened in the second half and didn't look like scoring. Left before full time to get an earlier train as there was no risk of missing a goal.

Re: Hatfield
Would absolutely love Hatfield to come back. He's the best centre midfielder we've had at this level by a margin. Unless his legs have completely gone he'd be a huge asset. No idea if it's going to happen like. Hatfield didn't feature for Fylde today, not in the 11 or the 5 subs (Charman was a sub ...

Re: South Shields
Anyone but Leiston given their location. Most likely one of Oxford / Braintree will be laterally transferred across to NLN. The NLN will lose 6 teams (2 up/4 down) two of which will be replaced by South Shields and Scunthorpe. If Leitston are promoted they are further north than Oxford City or the ...

Fulham. Is there a prize? Well, there would have been if you'd guessed the right club  No, it was Wolves in a rare appearance it was now Division 1. All the other Premiership groundss were in cup games, with our visit to White Heart Lane, was on a Tuesday night, when we played Orient, in a 3rd...

Scarborough Athletic (defeated Warrington) and Peterborough Sports (defeated Coalville) in next season's NLN. Brackley doing their best to blow promotion again. Looks as though almost half (11 of 23) opponents will be 150+ miles away Glos, Hereford, Leamington, Brackley, Banbury, Peterborough, Kings...

Re: RIP Billy McEwan
Billy Mac, no other Darlo manager was anything like him. Ahead of his time as he pioneered austerity years before Cameron & Osborne. Happy to work to a tight budget (probably why he got the job) and seemed to revel in the hair shirt treatment. Sold Steve Mardenborough for peanuts (£7k I think). Offe...

Lol Morgan
Apologies if I have missed it, but have not seen anything on the sad death of Lol Morgan announced on Friday by Rotherham United (his home town). He can fairly be described as a legend; he was only 35 years old when he managed DFC to the club's first ever Div 3 promotion in 1965/66, an achievement m...

Re: Those penalties
As the noteworthy penalty in our last match stimulated such interest, what about a penalties from the past thread? There have been some memorable ones; a couple I'd bring up are Frank Gray's against Rochdale in May 1991 and an outrageous dive from Mark Hine at Boston in 1989 - 'the guy might have c...

He wasn't the worst manager we've had & not the best but as he lasted over 3 years I wonder how many mangers following him lasted longer than Madden. I'm assuming Hodgson & Gray did, but not even Little, Penney or Knowles lasted that long. Billy Elliott was manager from June 1979 to June 1983. What...

Sorry Clive Natrrass or Neil Hague would definitely not be anywhere near my best eleven. A really classy defender I remember from the 1970s is John Stone who came from York City. Also must mention Barry Lyons who was an excellent midfielder in the 1970s and also came from York. My memory of Clive N...

Re: League restructure
I don't really know if there is an easy answer. If you make the Northern Premier League go straight into Conference North you give step 3 Northern sides a 1 in 12 chance of getting to Step 2 whilst giving the rest of the county a 1 in 36 chance - not sure that will be interpreted as fair. There isn...
